The Kashmir Files has broken records again! The film earned Rs 24.80 crores on day 9, which is the highest single-day collection.

The Kashmir Files is winning hearts and breaking records. The film did not have the biggest stars, a big budget or an expensive promotional campaign, but it still managed to get good numbers at the box office with just word of mouth. Fans, critics and even big celebrities could not stop praising the film and the performances by the cast.

Within a week, the film earned 100 crores at the Box Office. And, earlier today, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box office figures of day 9 of The Kashmir Files. The film has broken records again. In fact, it has broken its own record. The film has now earned 24.80 crores on the second Saturday, which is the highest than the earlier 8 days. This takes the total box office collection of the film to Rs 141.25 crores.

The Central government has accorded ‘Y’ category security cover to ‘The Kashmir Files‘ director Vivek Agnihotri with CRPF cover pan India, government sources said on Friday.

The film, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been mired in controversy since its release on March 11 with the BJP and Opposition parties having conflicting views on it.

At a BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’ against attempts, he claimed were being made to discredit it. Bringing out the truth in the right manner, said the PM is always in favour of the nation. ‘Kashmir Files’, directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990.

On the other hand, Opposition parties are criticizing the film for showing “half-truth”.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party for backing the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ and said that that if the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ can be made on Kashmir, then ‘Lakhimpur Files’ can also be made.

The Kashmir Files: Police warn against clicking on download links sent on WhatsApp

Police said that clicking on malware sent on WhatsApp could end up hacking phones and emptying bank accounts linked to the mobile numbers.

Police have cautioned against clicking on suspicious links sent on social media and WhatsApp on the pretext of providing free access to the newly-released movie “The Kashmir Files”. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ranvijay Singh said that clicking on malware sent on WhatsApp could end up hacking phones and emptying bank accounts linked to the mobile numbers.

“There has been no specific case here yet in which the movie’s name has been used but there are inputs regarding such methodology being used by conmen for hacking into people’s phone or duping them of money,” PTI quoted Singh as saying.

However, Singh said, there have been cases where gullible phone users have ended up losing their savings after a few clicks on the links sent to them on WhatsApp.

“Most recently, three people approached the police within a period of a 24 hours from just one police station with similar complaints of cyber fraud, in which they ended up losing a combined ₹30 lakh,” the officer said, as quoted by PTI.

I have visited there many times in the past. Ye film bari serious hai, I do not want to be a part of the show. But I have to say, Kapil does not have any malice towards us or towards the film.”
