Saba Qamar remembers late actor Irrfan Khan and regrets not keeping in touch with him
Irrfan Khan was a globally recognized star and an actor with sheer brilliance who brought a modern sensibility to Hindi cinema. His tragic demise sent a shockwave in the entire film industry. Irrfan Khan died at the age of 53 on 29th April 2020 after battling cancer for two years. Recently, actress Saba Qamar who has worked with Irrfan in Hindi Medium, remembered the late actor and regretted not keeping in touch with him.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Saba called him Irrfan “gem of a person” and that she has learnt a lot from him. Praising the late actor Saba said “He was such a fine actor, a gem of a person, maza aa gaya unke saath kaam karke. I have learnt a lot from him.
Recalling her shoot days with Irrfan, Saba shared that she did not rehearse a single scene for the film. Saba went on to share that it was all together a new experience for her because she is a well-prepared actor and before going to any shoot, she would rehearse her scenes. She was quoted saying “I remember a day before we were going to start shooting for the film in Delhi, we did a few lines with the cast and the crew but didn’t really rehearse-rehearse. That was something new for me, and was a different kind of experience. So that is the thing that I have learnt from Irrfan sir that you don’t need to rehearse much.”
During the shoot of Hindi Medium, she added how Irrfan’s magic created a different ambience on the sets. The Mrs & Mr Shameem actress also regretted not being in touch with Irrfan Khan. The actress explained that when his health deteriorated, she thought of calling him to know about his well-being but she couldn’t because of shooting and travelling.
