New Delhi: It’s a double treat for all Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth fans. Amitabh Bachchan has joined Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 170. The production house officially announced the news on Tuesday. Sharing a picture of Amitabh Bachchan, the production house wrote, “Welcoming the Shahenshah of Indian cinema. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on board for Thalaivar170. Thalaivar170Team reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one & only@SrBachchan.” The film will be directed by Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel. The title of the movie has not been fixed yet. The shooting will reportedly start this month.

Earlier in the day, the production house also revealed that Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil will also act in the movie. Welcoming Fahadh Faasil on board, the makers wrote, “Welcoming the incredibly versatile talent Mr. Fahadh Faasil on board for #Thalaivar170.”

Swades actor Gayatri Joshi and husband Vikas Oberoi’s car was part of a multiple-vehicle collision which left an elderly couple dead.

Gayatri Joshi of Swades fame is in Italy with husband Vikas Oberoi and the two reportedly were involved in a car accident which left a senior couple dead. Gayatri confirmed to Free Press Journal that she and her husband were doing “absolutely fine” after the tragic accident. It was reportedly a multiple-car collision in Sardinia and a Swiss couple travelling in a Ferrari died when the high-end vehicle caught fire.

What reportedly happened in Italy
The portal reported Gayatri as saying, “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here.. With gods grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

The portal also reports that the collision took place when a Lamborghini and the couple’s Ferrari tried to overtake a camper van at the same time, resulting in the Ferrari catching fire and overturning of the van. The incident is said to have taken place during the Sardinia Supercar Tour as part of which luxury cars parade from Teulada to Olbia. The accident is believed to have been recorded in a video that surfaced online soon after.

Gayatri won the Femina Miss India International in 2000 and made her acting debut with 2004 film Swades. She starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan as Geeta in the critically-acclaimed Ashutosh Gowariker film. Despite winning quite a few awards for her debut, she left the industry soon after. She tied the knot with businessman Vikas Oberoi in 2005 and the couple have two kids.

Gayatri is sometimes spotted in Mumbai. She and her husband were seen on a get-together with Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan last year. In 2019, Gayatri had made headlines for losing 40000 in a credit card fraud. “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of card cloning. The complainant has claimed that someone stole her card details and duplicated it later to withdraw money,” a police officer had told Hindustan Times.

Waheeda Rehman To Be Facilitated With Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award

Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award, announced the Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday. The actress is known for iconic films like Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudhavi Ka Chand, Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide, Khamoshi and more.

Veteran actress and dancer Waheeda Rehman, who is known for films like Guide, Pyaasa, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Delhi-6, Kaagaz Ke Phool and several others, is being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for her immense contribution to Indian cinema.The actress has played countless memorable characters on the celluloid and is known to be the pillar of Indian cinema with a career spanning almost seven decades.

Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, made the announcement on Tuesday as he took to his X (formerly called Twitter).

He shared a long note announcing the honour for the veteran actress as he listed her achievements.

He wrote, “I feel an immense sense of happiness and honour in announcing that Waheeda Rehman ji is being bestowed with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award this year for her stellar contribution to Indian Cinema. Waheeda ji has been critically acclaimed for her roles in Hindi films, prominent among them, Pyaasa, Kaagaz ke Phool, Chaudhavi Ka Chand, Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide, Khamoshi and several others. In her career spanning over 5 decades, she has essayed her roles with extreme finesse, leading to a National Film Award for her role as a clanswoman in the film ‘Reshma and Shera’”.
He further mentioned, “A Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee, Waheeda ji has exemplified dedication, commitment and the strength of a Bharatiya Nari who can achieve the highest level of professional excellence with her hardwork. At a time when the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam has been passed by Parliament, her being awarded with this lifetime achievement award is a fitting tribute to one of the leading ladies of Indian Cinema and one who has dedicated her life after films to philanthropy and the greater good of society. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2 breached the Rs 50-crore mark with its Day 5 earning of Rs 5.65 crore nett. The five-day collection of the Raaj Shaandilyaa-helmed romantic comedy now stands at Rs 51.78 crore nett. Also starring Ananya Panday, the film registered an opening day collection of Rs 10.69 crore nett and added Rs 30 crore nett to its kitty over the weekend. It was followed by Rs 5.42 crore nett on Monday.

Dream Girl 2 has emerged as the 12th Hindi movie of the year to reach the Rs 50-crore mark at the box office in 2023. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan achieved this feat on the opening day itself. After viewing the movie in a Mumbai theatre, she shared her perspective with the media. Hema Malini lauded the performances, especially that of Sunny Deol.

When asked about her opinion on the film, Hema said that it transported her to the era of ’70s and ’80s Bollywood. While it appeared like a regular outing at first, the actor broke the internet by revealing his new hairdo. In videos shared by paparazzi, Salman was seen sporting an almost bald look, hinting that he is ready for his next film.

In the video, Salman was seen entering a starry gathering with his security team. The actor sported an all black look — a black shirt with a pair of black pants — for the night. The cameras went gaga over his new look. Although Salman remained tight-lipped about his new look, the haircut prompted speculations that he could be returning with Tere Naam 2.

Box office collections: Gadar 2 enters 300 Crore Club, OMG 2 to enter 100 Crore Club

Gadar 2 and OMG 2 released on the same day – much like the theatrical release of Lagaan and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha coincided 22 years ago.

It’s raining biggies at the box office. Week after week there is a successful film being churned out, and that’s terrific news indeed for the theatrical business. Hollywood was producing hit after hit in July, with Oppenheimer and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One scoring centuries and Barbie being a success too. Bollywood’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani joined the party thereafter (July 28 release) and scored a comfortable century.

On August 11, Gadar 2 and OMG 2 embarked on a historic journey that is reminiscent of when Gadar and Lagaan released together and turned out to be successes. Just like what had happened back in 2001, Gadar 2 has now emerged as an all-time blockbuster whereas OMG 2 is a clear hit, with major business coming from multiplexes and select single screens as well.

Let’s talk about Gadar 2 first. The film has embarked on a record journey as it has entered the 300 Crore Club and that too in mere 8 days. The film made in excess of Rs 40 crore on Day 1, then went on to have two days where it scored half centuries, and ever since has been collecting consistently. The terrific run can well be seen from the fact that even on its second Friday, the film ended up netting Rs 20.50 crore, a number that no other film barring Pathaan or Gadar 2 itself has managed on its opening day so far this year. Currently standing at Rs 305.13 crore, the film is now pacing up well for an entry into the 400 Crore Club, possibly as early as a week from now.

OMG 2, meanwhile, is gearing for its 100 Crore Club entry celebrations, with Rs 91.08 crore already in its kitty. The film did well in its first week despite facing a hurricane like Gadar 2. In fact, within a week it had surpassed the entire lifetime collections of the first instalment of OMG. Hereafter, it has a job in hand to stay stable during the second week as that would be the difference between whether it just about reaches the Rs 135 crore mark or makes a dash towards Rs 150 crore in lifetime earnings. For Akshay Kumar, this is a sweetly timed success as the actor has around 4-5 more films lined up for release and one can now expect him to start planning their calendar well.

Jawan Clips LEAKED On Social Media AGAIN! Shah Rukh Khan’s Company Files A Complaint With Mumbai Police

Short clips from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan were stolen by the makers and leaked online, who have now filed an FIR against the handles that have shared them

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is all set to star in Atlee directorial Jawan. The songs and the prevue of the movie has left the audiences eagerly waiting for its release. It is now being reported that a few clips from the movie were stolen from the makers and were leaked on social media. According to DNA, the movie’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment filed an FIR on Thursday at the Santacruz Police Station. The FIR was filed under the Information Technology Act.

SRK’s company claimed that their copyright was violated because of the act. As per the report by the media publication, the makers have identified over 5 Twitter handles which shared the leaked clips on Jawan. Taking necessary measures, the social media profiles were sent legal notices. The report further states that as of now, one of the handles has acknowledged the notice.

This is not the first time something like this has happened. It was in March, earlier this year, that a slow-motion fight sequence featuring SRK was leaked on social media. Back then the Delhi High Court had ordered all the social networking websites to delete the leaked content and stop its distribution. The report had stated that the unauthorised distribution of the leaked video clips and photos could lead to jeopardising the movie’s advertising during its release in theatres.

After winning Miss Universe in 1994, Sushmita Sen entered films, a natural progression for most pageant winners back in the time. After giving some impressive performances in films like Filhaal, Samay, Main Hoon Na, Aankhen and Biwi No. 1 among others, the actor decided to take a break. It was only in 2020 that she decided to don the greasepaint again as she geared up for Aarya. Her comeback vehicle, a remake of Dutch drama series Penoza, became an instant success and even won an Emmy nomination.

Sushmita recently sat down with indianexpress.com to speak about her latest project Taali. We asked her whether she imagined that Aarya would go on to break all records, especially because it was her galloping solo without a male star. Flashing her big smile, she shared that Aarya has been a manifestation of what she has been waiting for during the eight-year hiatus she took. She also revealed how she picked the show among two other Bafta-winning remakes offered to her by other platforms.

“I knew when I came back to work it would be aap ye yeh role kar lo, woh kar lo (you do this role and that part). And you need immense holding capacity to say no. Mann maar ke kehna ke yeh nahi karna (You have to say no keeping aside your misgivings). When I come back, it’s with a sense of responsibility, I want to headline a show, do an author-backed part. It has to be something solid. For that, you tell me, I will do three months of prep, do workshops, and unlearn. I wanted something like this and I got very lucky with Aarya. I approached three of the major platforms and they came back with amazing shows. With Aarya, it was a hands-down win. The script and then with Ram Madhvani coming in, it was a killer combination,” she shared. When asked to reveal what were the other two shows, the actor smiled to say that those were also remakes of Bafta-winning shows.

The advance bookings for Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 kicked off earlier in the week, and the response has been great, according to trade analysts. As per Taran Adarsh, a total of 1,05,300 tickets have been sold at national chains. Taking to X, the trade analyst wrote, “#Gadar2 advance booking status at *national chains*… Note: DAY 1 biz… #PVR: 45,200, #INOX: 36,100, #Cinepolis: 24,000, Total: 1,05,300 tickets sold.” Another trade analyst, Sumit Kadel, wrote, “Advance booking at B &C tier single screens is even BIGGER than #Pathaan. Such advance booking at SS has not been witnessed in years.”

The video features Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara on an exotic holiday. Kiara in swimwear and Sidharth in shorts are seen jumping to the ocean from a yacht and having a blast. They scream, smile and celebrate while swimming together and posing for the camera.

Sharing the video, Kiara wrote, “Happy Birthdayyyy to meeeee #blessed #Grateful for every day and all the love.” Soon after she posted the video, her fans and friends rushed to the comment section and wished her. While speaking with Indian Express, Priyanka Chopra said that the Hindi film industry has changed a lot and that there is a great talent that comes from outside the industry. She said when she first forayed into the film industry, this wasn’t the case. “Now that we are living in the world of streaming, there is so much more. The Hindi film industry has changed so much in the last five to ten years. You have so many talent – writers, directors, actors that come from outside the industry. When I first started, that was not the case, at all,” said Priyanka.

She further added that having conversations around merit is important and that casting should be a casting director’s job, instead of the ‘politics and drama’. She said that these conversations are extremely important so that there are ‘no camps that actually rule casting’, and that casting is done purely based on merit. Priyanka added that she is elated to see many outsiders who have made it big in mainstream Hindi language entertainment. “It gives me such a joy, to be able to see that in my own career. And that happened because my generation of actors fought for it,” said Priyanka.

Sushmita Sen is happy to be back in Jaipur where she will unleash her Aarya avatar one more time. The actor will resume the shoot of season 3 of the Disney Plus Hotstar series Aarya which came to a halt as Sushmita suffered cardiac arrest in February. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the actor hosted a live session for her fans and followers on her way to a Jaipur hotel by car. Sharing an inside detail of the flight, the former Miss Universe said, “I was seated next to Pankaj Udhas Sir in the flight. The energy this man has… I was shameless to ask him, Sir do line gaa dijiye (Sir, please sing a couple of lines) It makes me feel that I am surrounded by good people and good energy…”
Sharing the video, Sushmita captioned it, “Shubho Noboborsho. Here’s to new beginnings with endless possibilities! I love you guys! #duggadugga #yourstruly”

The actor told that she received a warm welcome at the airport. She exchanged greetings with the people who joined the sessions. The actor also wished a very happy Bengali new year to all her viewers irrespective of their caste, creed and language.

“Back to life… It’s good to be back”, said Sushmita in all ecstasy. The actor also recited a Shayari as one of the viewers requested her. Sushmita is celebrated for her inspiring and positive attitude towards life. The actor repeatedly said during the live session that she felt blessed and privileged as her fans constantly sent her good wishes during her tough time.

Sushmita suffered a cardiac arrest in February and following that she has undergone angioplasty. The Aarya actor informed her fans through social media that she was diagnosed with a 95 per cent blockage in the main artery. Since then, the actor has been updating with her health details on Instagram.
