Following a clarification from the High Court Collegium, the Supreme Court Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai said,
“We have scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record, including the report dated 21 March 2024 of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala. The Collegium, therefore, is of the considered view that Smt Sreeja Vijayalakshmi is fit and suitable for appointment as Judge of the High Court of Kerala.”
The High Court Collegium had recommended Vijayalakshmi’s name for judgeship in December 2023.
Last month, the Supreme Court Collegium had sought a report from the High Court Collegium “in light of the inputs placed by the Department of Justice in the file”.
