Sunil Narine continued his red-hot form in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) as he and Phil Salt gave the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) another quick start on Sunday (May 5) in a clash against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Narine and Salt put up a partnership of 61 runs in 26 balls; the latter departed for a knock of 32 in 14 balls. However, Narine continued his onslaught and took the game away from the hands of the home team with an incredible knock of 81 runs in 39 balls with six boundaries and seven sixes.
The KKR star has been in incredible form this season with an incredible tally of 452 runs and 14 wickets, which sees him occupy the third spot on the orange cap list and sixth on the purple cap tally. Narine is only the fourth cricketer in history to score more than 450 runs and take 10+ wickets in the same season after Jacques Kallis, Shane Watson, and Andre Russell.

Through his brilliant knock of 81, Narine crossed the 1500-run mark as far as his IPL career is concerned. The West Indies legend has 1507 runs in 173 matches (107 innings) at an average of 17.32 and a strike rate of 166.33. Meanwhile, he is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in history with 176 wickets.
Through his incredible feat, Narine has become only the third player in history after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legends Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja. However, , having been associated with the Knight Riders since his IPL debut in 2012 and not playing for any other team.
