A clash erupted between two groups during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. The Delhi Police said that the situation is under control.
Two groups clashed during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Saturday, April 16 after stones were pelted. Several vehicles were vandalised by miscreants and police personnel were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital.
Visuals from the site of the incident show groups of people on different sides of a road pelting stones at each other. It has been said that when the police tried to handle the situation, they were also attacked by the miscreants.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that the situation is now under control and strict action will be taken against the miscreants for disrupting peace. Patrolling has been increased in the area. He also asked citizens to not pay heed to the rumours and fake news on social media.
In today's incident in NW District, the situation is under control. Adequate additional force has been deployed in Jahangirpuri & other sensitive areas. Senior officers have been asked to remain in field and closely supervise the law & order situation & undertake patrolling. 1/2
