Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, was fined INR 24 lakh for slow over-rate offense against the Gujarat Titans. This was RR’s second offense, with the previous instance coming against the CSK when stand-in captain Riyan Parag was fined.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a crushing 58-run defeat to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 23rd match of the IPL 2025. This was the team’s third defeat this season, as they slipped to seventh on the points table. Not a lot went right for RR in the match as the team ended up conceding 217-6 in 20 overs before getting bowled out for a mere 159.
To make matters worse, the team failed to finish their overs in time, and captain Sanju Samson was fined INR 24 lakh for slow over-rate. This was the second instance of RR being penalised for slow over-rate. Earlier, RR failed to finish their overs in time against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and their stand-in captain Riyan Parag was fined INR 12 lakh. Parag led the team in the first three games as Samson played as an impact player due to injury. The IPL media release confirmed that the remaining members of the playing XI will be fined 25 percent of their match fee or six lakh, whichever is less.
“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will be fined either INR six lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” an IPL media release read.
