Salman Khan Residence Firing Case: Lawrence Bishnoi Ready To Cooperate With Crime Branch, Awaiting MHA Custody Clearance, Advocate Confirms
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has expressed willingness to cooperate with the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. However, authorities are currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to secure Bishnoi’s custody for further questioning. Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail on narcotics charges, is a key suspect in the firing case that occurred at Khan’s Galaxy Apartment in April 2024.
In 2023, the MHA issued an order under Section 268 of the Criminal Procedure Code, preventing Bishnoi’s transfer from Sabarmati Jail for a year. This order expired on August 30, 2024, allowing the Crime Branch to push for his transfer to Mumbai for interrogation. Despite Bishnoi’s readiness to assist with the investigation, formal approval from the MHA is still pending. His advocate, Rajani, confirmed that Bishnoi has been cooperative in other cases and is prepared to do the same here
The Crime Branch has submitted all relevant documents, including details from an FIR related to a previous hotel firing in Jaipur and information from a National Investigation Agency case involving Bishnoi. A 1,735-page chargesheet, which includes comprehensive details of Bishnoi’s alleged criminal activities, has been filed to make the case as strong as possible and expedite his transfer.
