On Tuesday, former Team India coach Rahul Dravid was seen having a verbal altercation with an auto driver in Bengaluru. Generally known for his calm and composed demeanour, Dravid was seen in an animated discussion after his vehicle was rear-ended by a goods auto. Fortunately, no injuries or formal complaints were recorded. However, the video has since circulated widely online.

While the exact words exchanged remain unclear since the conversation happened in Kannada an Indiatimes report stated that witnesses reported that the auto driver had applied sudden brakes, leaving Dravid with little time to react, resulting in a minor crash.
It was further reported that Dravid took the auto driver’s number and left. The incident has reignited the “Indiranagar ka gunda” references, a throwback to Dravid’s uncharacteristically aggressive avatar in a past advertisement with Cred.

Rahul Dravid back in IPL 2025
After leading India to T20 World Cup title last year, Dravid stepped down as the national team’s head coach and took up a role with Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2025. The 52-year-old, who previously played for RR from 2011 to 2013, will now look to guide the Jaipur-based franchise to their first title since 2008.
Following the appointment as Royals coach, Dravid said “I am pleased to be returning to the franchise I have called ‘home’ for a number of years in the past. After the World Cup, I feel it’s the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that … It’s an exciting opportunity for us to take this team to the next level given the kind of talent and resources we have at our disposal and I’m looking forward to getting started,”
