Punjab private schools and colleges will remain closed today, April 11, as a mark of protest. The decision comes after the Federation of Private Schools of Associations of Punjab stated that private educational institutions will remain closed.
The call for closure of schools and colleges comes as a mark of protest against the arrest of the Managing Director, MD of the private school in Gurdaspur district, after it was alleged that a four-year-old student was raped on the campus last week.
“It is disturbing and sad that such a heinous crime happened with such a small victim but it is not correct to arrest school authorities instead of nabbing the main culprits who committed such a monstrous crime,” stated that district president, Manmohan Singh.
The crime against the student was condemned by all organisations in Punjab, however, as per various school officials the arrest of the school administrator is not justified and until the real culprits of the crime are arrested, the private schools, colleges and universities will remain closed today.
At a press conference event regarding the closure of schools as a mark of protest, the officials stated that the police should investigate the case and further added that the ‘innocent’ administrator should also get justice.
