Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had claimed that 17 farmers were injured in the use of tear gas and water cannons by the security forces on farmers who were marching towards Delhi.
Farmers will hold a tractor march outside Punjab on Monday, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, adding that a ‘Rail Roko’ protest in the state will be held on December 18.
Pandher announced the march hours after a ‘Jathha’ of 101 farmers was withdrawn for the day after it was blocked by the police at the Shambhu border due to security concerns.
“On December 16, a tractor march will be organised outside Punjab, and on December 18, we have called for a ‘Rail Roko’ in Punjab. We appeal to all Punjabis to participate in large numbers,” he said.
The farmers’ march towards Delhi from the Shambhu border was disrupted as the security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the ‘Jathha’ of farmers. Pandher claimed that 17 farmers were injured in the incident while also claiming that several farmers were in serious condition.
