Chandigarh: Punjab police on Wednesday claimed to have nabbed two members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang following a shootout on the outskirts of Jalandhar cantonment and recovered three weapons along with magazines and cartridges from their possession.

CP Sharma said that following disclosures of arrested accused persons, police teams were taking both the accused persons to a desolated place at the outskirts of the Jalandhar cantonment, where they claimed to have concealed arms and ammunition.
However, during the recovery operation, accused Sukhmanjit Singh opened fire at the police teams, prompting retaliatory action during which he sustained injuries in the exchange of fire,” he said, while adding that at least 13 rounds of fires were exchanged during the encounter and subsequently admitted to a local hospital.
