PM Modi’s Caribbean Outreach: India Proposes 7 Pillars For Cooperation With CARICOM, Puts Focus On 5Ts

During the summit, PM Modi proposed seven key pillars to strengthen ties between India and ‘CARICOM’. PM Modi explained the framework, “In the future, to strengthen our ties, I want to make a statement, it is based on 7 key pillars.”

Following the conclusion of the G20 Summit in Brazil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Guyana. During his visit, PM Modi proposed seven key pillars to strengthen ties between India and ‘CARICOM’ as he held talks with the Caribbean partner countries. PM Modi attended second summit with CARICOM, the group of island countries of the Caribbean Sea.

The talks majorly focused on areas such as trade, technology, and tourism, among others. PM Modi became the first Indian head of state to visit Guyana in more than 50 years.

During the summit, PM Modi proposed seven key pillars to strengthen ties between India and ‘CARICOM’.

PM Modi explained the framework, “In the future, to strengthen our ties, I want to make a statement, it is based on 7 key pillars.”

“These 7 pillars are ‘CARICOM’. C stands for capacity building, through scholarship, training and technique, India has been helping in the capacity building of CARICOM countries, for the next 5 years, we will add 1,000 slots to the ITEC scholarship… for CARICOM, we will work to make forensic centres… with CARICOM friends, India is ready to work in parliamentary training also,” he added.
