Esha Deol recalls an incident when she slapped a man for inappropriately touching her at a film’s premiere despite being guarded by bouncers
Esha Deol, a celebrated Bollywood actress known for her beauty and acting talent, has always left a mark on the industry. She made her debut with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe in 2002 and quickly rose to prominence. However, her journey has not been without challenges. In a recent interview on the show The Male Feminist, Esha opened up about a disturbing incident from 2005, when she was inappropriately touched during the premiere of her film Dus.
Recalling the incident, Esha explained that despite being surrounded by bouncers, a man from the crowd managed to touch her inappropriately. Instead of staying silent, Esha decided to act on the spot. She grabbed the man’s hand, pulled him from the crowd, and slapped him, making it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated. In her words: “Something happened to me in that moment, and my instant reaction was to hold the man’s hand, pull him out from the crowd, and slap him.” This bold move demonstrated her refusal to accept inappropriate behavior, even in a public setting.
Esha also discussed how, despite not being a person with a hot temper, she reacts strongly when faced with situations that push her beyond her limits. She emphasized the importance of women standing up for themselves in similar situations, stressing that physical strength does not give men the right to take advantage of women. She added that while men may be physically stronger, women are emotionally resilient, and it’s crucial not to tolerate any kind of abuse or inappropriate behavior. “Just because men are physically stronger, it doesn’t mean they can take advantage of us,” she said, encouraging women to speak up and fight back.
