The daughter of a Nepalese mayor, Aarti Hamal, who went missing in Goa two days ago, has been found safe, her father announced on Wednesday.
Aarti Hamal, the 36-year-old daughter of a mayor in Nepal, who had gone missing in Goa two days ago, was found on Wednesday. The woman, a follower of Osho, had been staying in Goa for the past few months and was untraceable since Monday night.
“I inform all well wishers that my eldest daughter Aarti was found safely in Goa and health condition is weak due to the efforts of everyone. … Along with my eldest daughter Aarti, youngest daughter Arju and son-in-law, I inform everyone that they are together,” Aarti’s father Gopal Hamal, the mayor of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, said in a post on X.
He expressed his “gratitude to all the people who helped in the search work, along with the helpful Nepali brothers and sisters living in Goa.”
A search operation was launched in Goa following a missing person’s complaint. The cops formed multiple teams to trace the woman, led by senior police officers Akshat Kaushal, Pernem Jivaba Dalvi, and Inspector Sharif Jacques. They searched neighbouring hospitals and various hotels in Goa.
A thorough scanning of CCTV footage turned pivotal in tracing her, and the missing woman was safely located in Chopdem village in Goa within 12 hours, police said.
The woman’s family members had also arrived in Goa to assist with the search.
On Tuesday, Aarti’s family was informed that she was missing after last being seen in the vicinity of Ashvem Bridge on Monday at around 9:30 pm.
Following this, Gopal Hamal took to social media to seek help in finding her.
