This victory marked MI’s first win over CSK since 2022, ending a four-match losing streak. The result means that the MS Dhoni-led side have only two victories in eight matches and their chances of reaching the playoffs are now hanging by a thread.

MI are the first team to complete a successful run-chase against CSK in less than 100 balls (With 20 or more balls left) four teams. Kolkata Knight Riders (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are the only other teams to achieve the feat twice.
Overall, KKR hold the record for the most wins in IPL history, with more than 20 balls left with 25 such instances. MI and DC are second on the list with 18 wins each.
Meanwhile, MI’s win was their 21st over CSK, the joint-most second (alongside KKR VS PBKS, CSK VS RCB) by one team over another in IPL history. Only MI vs KKR (24) have more wins against a single opponent. MI are the only team in IPL history with 20 or more wins against one team (KKR, CSK, DC).
