The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, passed a Condolence Resolution on Friday in memory of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, hailing him as an “eminent statesman, renowned economist, and distinguished leader.”
The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence in respect to the departed leader. In a statement, the Cabinet noted that the nation had lost a towering figure whose contributions spanned political, economic, and social domains. The resolution further described Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister as a period marked by economic reforms and diplomatic initiatives that garnered global recognition.
Cabinet Announces State Mourning
To honour his memory, the Cabinet announced that state mourning would be observed for seven days, until January 1, 2025. During this period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across all government buildings.
