A 65-year-old man who was declared ‘dead’ by doctors at a private hospital in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, moved his fingers and breathed again after being shaken when the ambulance carrying him passed on a speed breaker. The incident has gone viral and made people question whether it was a miracle or the doctors’ mistake.
‘Dead’ man comes alive in Kolhapur
The incident was reported on December 16, when the elderly man named Pandurang Ulpe was rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering a heart attack. The doctors declared him to be dead and shifted his ‘body’ into an ambulance. As the vehicle was on its way to Ulpe’s house, his wife seated next to the ‘body’ noticed subtle movement in his fingers.
According to reports, after the ambulance passed over a speed breaker, Ulpe was shaken to life. His wife who was onboard saw the man’s fingers moving, which suggested he was alive. This made her ask the driver turn back to the hospital.
Walks home days after angioplasty
Ulpe then went through medical procedures to recover his ill health.
While the doctors had declared him dead, they later performed an angioplasty on him and monitored his health for a fortnight. After the said time period, the ‘dead’ man walked home.
‘Dead’ man calls it Lord Vitthal’s blessings
Speaking to local media, Ulpe expressed gratitude to Lord Vitthal for bringing him back to life. Being identified as a devotee of Lord Vitthal, ‘Varkari’ Pandurang Ulpe, a resident of Kadaba Bavda, was quoted in news reports as saying, “This is nothing but God Shree ‘Vitthal’s blessings”.
