Starting today, the world will witness the largest gathering taking place on Earth in the ‘Sangam Nagri’ of Prayagraj. Settled at the confluence of holy rivers of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, Prayagraj is a city with religious significance like no other. And it is hosting the grandest religious festival celebrated ever- the MahaKumbh Mela 2025.
The 45-day event will see more than 400 million people thronging the town to be a part of once in a lifetime event. The Uttar Pradesh government has made an elaborate arrangement to cater to the tourists and the city has been decorated in a way to fill anyone with spiritual lightning the moment one arrives here. The Akharas are already here, along with those who will observe Kalpvas and live without any worldly affairs and strictly following the rituals.

The MahaKumbh 2025 will begin with Paush Purnima snan, one of the six ‘shahi-snans’ and will start the Kalpvas period that people observe for a shorter period to as long as one month.
Why Is This MahaKumbh Once In A Lifetime Event?

The MahaKumbh Mela will now be held after 144 years which means, the next time it will be held in 2169 and the Mela will see every new individual. This means, no one can attend two MahaKumbhs in one lifetime.
