A mysterious blast was reported near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school on Sunday morning in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini in New Delhi. The cause of the explosion has yet to be ascertained.
The fire department was notified about the incident at around 7:50 AM following which two fire brigades were immediately dispatched, Delhi Fire Services official said.
The loud sound of the blast panicked local residents in the surrounding areas. However, there have been no reports of any casualties yet.

Speaking about the incident, the Delhi police said that the wall of the CRPF school was found damaged and emitted a foul smell. Additionally, the windows of the nearby shops and a parked car were also damaged.
“A PCR call was received in which the caller informed that a blast with a high volume took place near CRPF School Sector 14, Rohini. SHO/PV and staff reached the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell,” they said.
The police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
“Our forensic team and crime unit are at the spot to collect samples from the blast location. It could be a firecracker, but we are investigating the entire matter from all angles,” a senior police officer stated.

Meanwhile, the National Security Guard (NSG) team has reached the spot to analyse the cause of the explosion.
Shashank, an eyewitness to the blast, told news agency ANI: “The only possibilities which we think of are a cylinder blast or a building collapse… There was a big cloud of smoke here which stayed for a good 10 minutes.”
