The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has declared a nationwide 24-hour strike to protest the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, demanding justice and better safety measures for medical professionals. The CBI has taken over the investigation and arrested several suspects, as the doctors protest continues over the brutal incident.

3. Newly appointed principal Suhrita Pal faced pressure from protesting doctors, who demanded action against the midnight mob attack. Pal urged them to trust her, saying, “If you can’t trust me for one hour, then send me home also.”
4. Fifteen policemen were injured in the overnight attack at the hospital, and nine people were arrested after the police released photos of suspected rioters on social media.
5. The police shared photos of people believed to be part of the mob, seeking information about them. A doctor, Anubhav Mondal, claimed he was among those in the photographs.
6. The Kolkata Police denied claims that the seminar hall where the trainee doctor was raped and murdered was vandalised, warning against spreading rumours.
