The Indian Navy’s warship INS Teg successfully rescued nine personnel, including eight Indians and one Sri Lankan, from the capsized oil tanker MV Prestige Falcon during a critical search and rescue (SAR) mission, . The incident occurred approximately 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah, Oman, on July 15, 2024.

The MV Prestige Falcon, which had a total of 16 crew members onboard (13 Indians and 3 Sri Lankans), capsized on the morning of July 16, 2024. The Indian Navy, in coordination with Omani authorities, promptly initiated SAR operations to locate and rescue the remaining crew members.

The ongoing search and rescue efforts are being conducted under challenging weather conditions, with rough seas and strong winds hampering the operation. Alongside INS Teg, the Indian Navy’s Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also aiding in the search for survivors.
