Victoria police officials made their presence felt outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on day one of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia as a few Pro-Khalistani supporters clashed with the Indian fans. The Pro-Khalistani supporters were reportedly raising anti-India slogans, thereby disrupting the marquee sporting event as visuals surfaced on social media.

According to reports, the Pro-Khalistani group had entered without tickets and waved flags by screaming anti-India slogans, prompting the Victoria police personnel to remove them. In another video shared on social media, Indian fans, supporting the visiting team, raised the tri-colour and chanted pro-India slogans.

An Indian spoke to ANI when asked about the incident and said:

“I don’t want to take names. They should not be given any limelight. I come from Punjab and I don’t support them at all. Whatever they do, it’s not worth it. They are just like 5 or 10 people, who grew up here and have never been to Punjab or India and doing nonsense agenda for themselves.”
