Arvind Kejriwal told women to vote for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and ask their husbands also to do the same. The AAP convener told women that only they could make their husbands vote for the party.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told women voters to refuse to serve dinner to their husbands if they take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name. Kejriwal was seen telling women to vote for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and ask their husbands also to do the same. The AAP convener told women that only they could make their husbands vote for the party.
“Many men are chanting PM Modi’s name, but you have to set it right. If your husband chants Modi’s name, tell him you won’t serve him dinner,” said Kejriwal.
He made the remark while addressing a townhall event in Delhi named ‘Mahila Samman Samaroh’. Arvind Kejriwal told the women to ask their family members to swear upon them that they would support him and AAP.
He also asked the women to tell other women who support the BJP that it is “only your brother Kejriwal who will stand by you”.
“Tell them that I have made their electricity free, their bus tickets free, and now I’m giving these Rs 1,000 to women every month. What has the BJP done for them? Why vote for BJP then? Vote for Kejriwal this time,” he said.
The Delhi Chief Minister further said till now, a “fraud” was being committed in the name of empowering women.
“The parties give some post to a woman and say that women have been empowered. I am not saying that women should not get posts, they should get big posts and tickets, they should get everything. But only two or four women benefit from this. What do the rest of the women get?” asked Kejriwal.
He said the new scheme under his government — ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ — would bring real empowerment.
“Empowerment will happen when there is money. Real empowerment will happen now when every woman gets Rs 1,000 every month,” he said.
On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party-led (AAP) Delhi government announced that it will provide Rs 1,000 every month to every woman aged 18 years and above under Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna. The AAP government has allocated ₹2,000 crore for the scheme, Delhi’s finance minister Atishi said while presenting the 2024-25 annual budget.
