Nawab Malik, the chief of NCP’s Mumbai unit and also the Guardian minister for Parbhani and Gondia districts, is currently in judicial custody in connection with a money laundering case related to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The Special PMLA court has extended the judicial custody of Malik till April 4. BJP has been pressing for Malik’s resignation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has challenged the Narendra Modi-led BJP government to kill Dawood Ibrahim.
Speaking in the state Assembly, the CM defended NCP leader Nawab Malik saying if he had a connection with Dawood Ibrahim for years then what were the central agencies doing.
Reacting to protest by BJP MLA’s outside Maharashtra Assembly demanding the resignation of Nawab Malik, Thackeray asked why the Union government supported Mehbooba Mufti who had sympathy for Afzal Guru and terrorist Burhan Wani.
“The way you have attacked my family and want to put me in jail…What is the use of exposing all these things? Court sees proof and decides…Put me in jail, I am not Krishna but can you say that you are not Kans,” the Maharashtra CM said.
