Fresh details have emerged in the murder case of Congress worker Himani Narwal in Haryana’s Rohtak, with police piecing together the events leading up to the crime. The accused, identified as Sachin, has been taken into custody and reportedly confessed to killing Narwal after an argument on February 28. According to police, Sachin, who ran a mobile shop in Jhajjar, was acquainted with the victim and had been in contact with her for over a year.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Krishan Kumar Rao said that Sachin and Himani had connected through social media and he had been visiting her residence in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, frequently over the past several months. An HT report quoted the ADGP as saying, “On February 27 around 9 pm, Sachin visited Himani’s house and stayed overnight. The next day, an argument broke out between them over an undisclosed issue. During the altercation, Sachin tied Himani’s hands with her dupatta and strangled her using a mobile phone charger. He then stuffed her body into a suitcase along with a bloodstained quilt.”
Following the murder, Sachin took away the victim’s mobile phone, laptop, and jewellry, which he later hid at his shop in Jhajjar. “He used her scooty to transport the stolen items to his shop,” Rao added.
After securing the stolen valuables, Sachin returned to the crime scene, packed Himani’s body into a suitcase, and hired an auto-rickshaw. He got off near Sampla bus stand to mislead investigators before abandoning the suitcase. CCTV footage later surfaced, capturing him dragging the suitcase.
