Himani Narwal Murder: Accused Confesses, Says He Was In Relationship With Congress Worker

Congress worker Himani Narwal was found dead near a bus stand in Rohtak

The Haryana Police on Monday arrested one accused in connection with the brutal murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase near a bus stand in Rohtak on Saturday. The accused, Sachin, has confessed to the crime, citing a monetary dispute between them as the reason for the killing.

According to an exclusive confession statement accessed by Times Now, Sachin admitted to being in a relationship with Himani. On February 28, just before she was supposed to attend a Congress meeting, he met her, and an argument followed. In a fit of rage, he strangulated her and later decided to stuff her body into her own suitcase.
The case has sparked outrage, with Himani’s family demanding strict action against the accused. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter, and the police have recovered her phone for further investigation.

Family Alleges Political Foul Play

Himani Narwal’s mother, Savita, alleged that the accused could be someone from the party or a known person. “I am sure the accused is a known person, either someone from the party or someone from her college or our relative. Only they could come home. I am sure someone tried to do something to her, and she protested, which is why this happened. She did not tolerate anything wrong. I want the death penalty for the accused. No one from the government has contacted us so far,” she said.
Her brother, Jatin, also called for the harshest punishment. “One accused has been arrested, and today we will cremate her. A lot of rumours are being spread in the media… We will get justice… We still don’t know who the accused is; the police have not given us any information… We want the death penalty for the accused,” he said.

Political Links And Allegations

Himani Narwal, a 22-year-old Youth Congress member, was known for her active participation in party activities, including Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Her social media profile featured pictures with the Congress leader.
Her mother alleged that her daughter had made political enemies due to her rapid rise.
“Election and party claimed my daughter’s life. She made some enemies due to that. These (perpetrators) could be even from the party, they could be her friends too… She was at home on February 28… We received a phone call from the police station (regarding the incident),” she said.
She also pointed to past family tragedies, stating, “My elder son was killed in 2011 and we never received justice. After elections, she had become a little disillusioned with the party. She said that she wanted a job and that she didn’t want to work much for the party… She was associated with Congress for the past 10 years. She had also agreed to get married. She was pursuing LL.B… I had called up Asha Hooda in the morning but my phone call was not received.”
Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda condemned the murder and said that political affiliations should not shield the guilty.
“A culprit (in the murder case) is a culprit, whether he is in the party or anyone else, the culprit should be punished,” he said. Criticising the BJP government, Hooda added, “After the murder of Congress worker Himani, serious questions are being raised once again on the law and order of the state.”

Investigation Continues

According to the police, the suitcase containing Himani’s body was discovered by rag pickers near the Rohtak bus stand. Sub-inspector Narendra Kumar stated that Himani lived alone in Rohtak while pursuing her LL.B., with her mother and brother residing in Delhi. Sampla DSP Rajneesh Kumar assured that all angles were being probed.
