The Gujarat Titans etched their name in the history books after defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (April 2). The Shubman Gill-led side registered a thumping eight-wicket victory with eight balls to spare.
Talking about the match, GT won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision was immediately justified as RCB lost four wickets in the powerplay. A half-century from Liam Livingstone, alongside useful cameos from Jitesh Sharma and Tim David, helped the hosts put a respectable total of 169 on the board. Mohammed Siraj was the star of the show against his former side with a three-wicket haul.
Despite Shubman Gill’s early departure, Jos Buttler’s unbeaten knock of 73 and a solid 49 by Sai Sudharsan helped GT register a comfortable win.

The Titans registered their 30th win in IPL history in just their 48th game. The 2022 champions hold the record for the having the best win/loss ratio in the league’s history (1.666). Hardik Pandya led the team in the first two seasons when they won the title and finished runners-up. Shubman Gill took charge of the team last season and has guided them to seven victories so far.

GT broke a long-standing record of the Rajasthan Royals, who set the record in the 2011 season under Shane Warne’s captaincy. Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru also completed the milestone in the fourth season of the league.

Interestingly, if RR’s Super-Over win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2009 is not counted, they fall to fourth place in the list as their 30th outright victory came in their 56th match in the world’s richest cricket league.
