In Goa’s biggest drug haul, the Crime Branch officials allegedly arrested a man with hydroponic weed worth Rs 11.67 crore. The officials said it was the biggest seizure of drugs in the history of the coastal state. The man was arrested from Guirim village located between Panaji and Mapusa cities, a policeman said.
“We seized 11.672 kilograms of hydroponic weed worth Rs 11.67 crore from him. This is the biggest seizure of drugs in Goa’s history. He has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the spokesperson said, stated PTI.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawan hailed the Crime Branch for the accomplishment and called it a testament to the state’s efforts against the drug menace.

“Congratulations to the Crime Branch Goa Police for Goa’s Biggest-Ever Drug Bust! In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch has successfully busted a drug racket, arresting an individual in possession of 11.672 kg of hydroponic weed worth ‘Rs 11.67 crores. This is a testament to the relentless efforts of our law enforcement agencies in keeping our state drug-free,” the Chief Minister said in an X post.
“The Goa government remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, he said, adding that intelligence networks will be strengthened and surveillance enhanced to crack down on such crimes to safeguard youth and society,” he added.
“We will continue to strengthen intelligence networks, enhance surveillance, and crack down on drug-related crimes to safeguard our youth and society,” the CM further said, adding “Kudos to the @Goa_Police, Crime Branch and all officials involved in this successful operation. Let us all stand together in the fight against drugs and work towards a safer, healthier, and drug-free Goa!”
