While this dance video impressed netizens and made them say “This is the cutest thing on the internet today”, some pointed out the elephant’s behaviour to be rather concerning than entertaining. “Please do not glorify this. Elephants do it when they are under duress or stress. It is not Bharatanatyam”, said Supriya Sahu IAS, who earlier served as the ACS Environment Climate Change & Forests.
If you are bird watching or walking through a zoo to capture some picturesque moment from the greens, you might come across wildlife enjoying the beauty of nature. Lucky ones might witness a peacock dancing or a mother kangaroo cuddling its little ones. But ever seen an elephant dancing?
In a trending reel, the jumbo appeared to perform some traditional Bharatanatyam moves. Along with two female dancers grooving in the front, the elephant swayed its trunk and moved its huge ears, giving a feeling to viewers that the animal was unexpectedly dancing.
