Fernandez was also fined a total of £3,020, including costs, at Llanelli Magistrates Court. The case was heard in the 23-year-old’s absence.

Chelsea footballer Enzo Fernandez has been disqualified from driving following two driving offences.

He was sentenced at Llanelli Magistrates court in Carmarthenshire on Wednesday after he was found guilty of failing to identify the driver of a Porsche Cayenne on 27 December last year.

The 23-year-old was also sentenced for a further offence of failing to identify the driver of a vehicle on 24 January.

A driver of the car was allegedly caught speeding on Carmarthen Road, Swansea, and, in a separate incident, running a red light on Church Street, Llanelli.

It was not proven that Fernandez was the driver of the vehicle on either occasion.

The midfielder has been at Chelsea since last year after signing from Benfica for a then British-record £106.8m.

He played for Argentina in their World Cup-winning campaign in 2022 and also won the 2024 Copa America with his national side.

Over the summer, the Argentinian apologised after he was seen chanting a racially offensive song with his Argentina teammates in a live broadcast on Instagram.

Fernandez was not in court for his sentencing and his case was heard in his absence.

He was fined £1,000 per offence and ordered to pay £110 in costs to Dyfed-Powys Police and South Wales Police respectively.

He must also pay a surcharge of £800 for the offences, bringing the total to £3,020.
