Elvish Yadav Lands In Trouble Again, NCW Summons YouTuber Over ‘Racist’ Remarks Against Chum Darang

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken strict action against YouTuber and social media influencer Elvish Yadav for making racist remarks about actress and Bigg Boss 18 fame Chum Darang. The commission has summoned Elvish to appear on February 17 following outrage over his comments made during a podcast with Rajat Dalal.

The controversy erupted after Elvish allegedly made derogatory remarks about Chum, mocking her name and ethnicity. His offensive comments also extended to her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi, where he made inappropriate jokes about her association with the film.

A photo of NCW’s notice to the YouTuber has also surfaced. “The National Commission for Women has taken a suo moto cognisance of a media post captioned “Women panel condemns ‘racist remarks by Elvish Yadav against Arunachali actress Cham Darang’, wherein it has been reported that you have made a derogatory and racist comment against Former Miss Arunachal and Big Boss contestant Chum Darang, calling her name as ‘ashleel’,” the notice read.

During the podcast, Elvish had stated, “Karan Veer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”

He was criticised for his comments and fans had demanded strict action against him.

Reacting to the controversy, Chum called out the blatant disrespect in an official statement, stating that such comments blur the line between humour and hate. She expressed her disappointment that not only was her ethnicity targetted, but her hard work and achievements were also belittled.

Chum slams Elvish

“Disrespecting someone’s identity and name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line. What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity – my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected,” she stated.

Elvish removes controversial part from video

Later, his one of his vlogs, Elvish said that he removed the controversial comments from the video. He also mentioned that his comment was misinterpreted and was blown out of proportion.

Elvish further slammed people, stating that they were unnecessarily twisting his words and said, “Kitne bewakoof log hain jinko ye samajh mein nahi aa raha. Wo log bol raha hain Elvish ne Covid bol diya, so Elvish is relating Chinese with Chum. Usmein maine bola tha, Karan Veer (Mehra) ko shayad Covid ho rakha tha jo uski taste, smell chali gayi, jo usko Chum pasand aa gayi.”

Rajat Dalal reacts amid backlash

On the other hand, Rajat had stated that whatever they said during the podcast was ‘scripted’. A few days back, he conducted an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Instagram and answered a couple of questions posted by his fans and followers.

When one of his followers asked him why he used such language during the podcast, Rajat replied, “Jo tumne chize dekhi hai roast vali, woh scripted tha. Hum dono ko script mili thi, ki ye chize bolni hai taaki hype bane (The things you saw in the roast were scripted. Both of us were given a script with specific lines to create hype).”
