Vishal Agrawal, the father of the 17-year-old Pune teen whose speeding Porsche knocked down and killed two people on Sunday, was sent to judicial custody till June 7 by a special court in the city.
The Pune police, investigating the hit-and-run case, had requested an extension of the teen’s father’s custody to allow for further investigation.
Two IT engineers, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, were killed when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-and-a-half-year-old boy in an inebriated state, hit their motorcycle at Pune’s Kalyani Nagar junction on May 19.
So far, five people have been arrested in the case, with the sixth being the minor’s father, who is a prominent realtor in the city.
The police also have submitted an application to the magistrate to add additional sections to the FIR. These include Section 420 of the IPC, along with Sections 65(e) and 18 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. These charges are to be added against the accused’s father, bar owners, and managers. Additionally, the police stated they need to investigate further aspects, including details accessed from mobile phones and bank account information of the accused, which need to be cross-verified with Agrawal
