Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category in several areas on Tuesday. The air quality may remain ‘very poor’ for the next six days.
Several areas in Delhi recorded an air quality index (AQI) in the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). AQI in Anand Vihar was recorded at 340, in Ashok Vihar at 315, in ITO Delhi at 307, in Jahangirpuri at 332.
The national capital on Monday had also recorded a 24-hour AQI reading of 310 at 4 pm in the ‘very poor’ category, while the minimum temperature settled at 14.6 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season’s average.

The forecast suggested that the air quality is expected to persist in the ‘very poor’ category for the next six days starting from Tuesday to Thursday.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi on Monday recorded the maximum temperature at 24.7 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season’s average. The humidity levels oscillated between 58 per cent and 98 per cent.
