Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Covid-19 cases are rising in the city but there is no need to panic as most new cases were mild in nature.
Delhi on Tuesday witness a massive spike in daily Coronavirus cases with the city recording as many as 2,495 fresh infections and seven deaths in the last 24 hours. According to reports, the positivity rate in the national capital has surged to 15.41 per cent. Responding to the spike in caseload, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Covid-19 cases are rising in the city but there is no need to panic as most new cases were mild in nature.
“Covid cases are rising in the city. We are keeping a watch on it and whatever steps needed will be taken. But most cases are mild and there is no need for panic,” Kejriwal said during a programme ahead of In+dependence Day.
The fresh cases on Tuesday came out of 16,187 COVID-19 tests, the health department bulletin stated. With the fresh infections and fatalities, Delhi’s caseload increased to 19,73,394 and the death toll to 26,343.
The health bulletin also stated that of the 9,409 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in various Delhi hospitals, 534 were occupied. Beds at Covid care centres and Covid health centres were lying vacant.
