Filmmaker and actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is currently gearing up for the release of her much-awaited film Emergency. Touted as her first solo directorial, she will be essaying the role of former-Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film. She has been making the headlines for her revelations on her personal and professional life. During an interaction with Aap Ki Adalat, she recently opened up about which politician she would like to play next on the big screen.
While talking about her portrayals of Indian politicians, Kangana expressed that she must have had blessings from all the powerful women of India to get the opportunity to portray their roles on screen. For those who don’t remember, until now the 38-year-old actress has played the roles of Rani Laxmibai, Jayalalithaa, and now Indira Gandhi.
Quoted by the Hindustan Times, “Mujhe lagta hai mujhe inn mahilayo ka aashirwad hai. Aur ye jo hai chati hai ki main ye karoon. Maine hamesha socha ki Rani Laxmibai ki kahani kitno ne banana ki koshish ki. Lekin who chahti thi ki main banau. Main isko lekar thoda romantic ideas rakhti hoon. Jayalalithaa ne chaha ki Kangana kare, mujhe lagta hai ki Indira Gandhi bhi yehi chahti thi ki main unka role play karoon. Mujhe kabhi ichcha nahi thi ki main Indira Gandhi banu. Aisa laga ki mujhe majboor kiya gaya ho yeh role play karne ke liye.”
Upon asking who she wants to play next on the big screen West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee or Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati, the Queen said, “Kalakar ke liye kuch mushkil nahi hai lekin mujhe lagta hai Mayawati ji jo hai.”

The release of Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Emergency’ has been postponed. The movie, in which Ranaut portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was initially slated for release on September 6.
Taking to Instagram handle, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared, “#BreakingNews… #Emergency postponed… Won’t release on 6 Sept 2024. #ZeeStudios #KanganaRanaut”
The film, a biographical political thriller, delves into the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who imposed a 21-month emergency period from 1975 to 1977.
Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Emergency’ has been embroiled in controversies for some time now. From facing backlash from several Sikh groups to not getting a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) yet, ‘Emergency’ is clearly having a tough time ahead of its release. However, amid the uproar, the film’s team is quite optimistic.
Kangana Ranaut has revealed earlier that her much-anticipated political drama ‘Emergency’ is still awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
On Friday, Kangana took to social media and revealed that her much-anticipated political drama ‘Emergency’ is still awaiting certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Despite earlier reports suggesting that ‘Emergency’ had received clearance from the CBFC, Kangana disclosed that the film’s certification is currently on hold.
“There have been rumours circulating that my film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was on hold due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board,” Kangana said.
“There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more. Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do–blackout the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country,” she added.
Recently, actor and director Divya Khossla reacted to the ongoing controversy of Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Emergency’.

Hyderabad: Praising the efforts of the Women in Cinema Collective in Kerala, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has urged the Telangana government to publish the report of a sub-committee on ‘sexual harassment’ in the Telugu film industry which can help frame policies to establish a safe working environment for women.
Taking cue from the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), The Voice of Women, a support group for women in TFI (Telugu film industry), was created in 2019, she said in an Instagram Story.
“We, the women of the Telugu film industry, welcome the Hema Committee report and applaud the persistent efforts of the WCC in Kerala, which has laid the path to this moment,” she said.
“We hereby urge the Telangana government, to publish the submitted sub-committee report on sexual harassment, which can help frame government and industry policies, to establish a safe working environment for women in the TFI,” Samantha said.
Burning Man tickets sales may have fallen this year, but those rich enough to attend are still arriving in style with their private planes touching down at a temporary airport
With Burning Man underway, some wealthy individuals made their way to Black Rock desert to participate in the festivities.
They arrived in private and chartered planes, touching down at a makeshift airport that sees about 500 takeoffs and landings a day and is a part of the festival’s temporary city. As part of its core initiative, Burning Man strings together a community and home for a fleeting moment in time every year and, apparently, this includes travel depots like an airport.
However, in the end, the city is meant to be eliminated, leaving the land as it was before and seemingly “without a trace” of their inhabitance on it, according to the festival website. This includes the private runway constructed for those wealthy Burners.
In order to ensure the safety of those on the aircrafts and on the ground, volunteers, in part, step into the air traffic control tower and coordinate with the planes and others in the area. Volunteering is a major part of the no-money economy that exists within the bounds of their little city. However, in cases like this, it isn’t always possible and they do call in some professionals who are paid to take lead on the airport.

These professionals come with plenty of experience, including controllers who work at events like the AirVenture Oshkosh which, obviously, sees heavy air traffic. A spokesperson for the Burning Man Project told Business Insider: “Burning Man hires a crew of five professional air traffic controllers who are the best in the world.”
Kangana Ranaut reveals her film Emergency hasn’t got CBFC clearance yet and she will fight for it, read to know below!
Kangana Ranaut has recently raised concerns regarding her upcoming film Emergency, alleging that it has yet to receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, slated for release on September 6, 2024, appears to be caught in a bureaucratic limbo, which has prompted Kangana to express her determination to fight for its release, even if it means taking legal action.
In an interview with IANS, Kangana shared her frustrations, stating, “Hopefully, my film got cleared from the censor. And the day we were about to get the certificate, a lot of people did a lot of drama.” She further elaborated that while she was initially confident about receiving the certification, unexpected hurdles have arisen, leaving her without the necessary clearance. Kangana criticized the censor board, claiming it has “become very hesitant” and reiterated her readiness to go to court if needed to protect her film and her rights as an individual. She emphasized the importance of portraying history accurately, despite potential backlash or threats. “We have to show the history… If they are going to suppress the voice of an artiste and my creative liberty… Some people have wielded their guns, and we are not afraid of guns,” she asserted.
The timing of these challenges coincides with growing calls to ban Emergency. In Telangana, the film faces potential prohibition after a delegation from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, accused it of portraying the Sikh community as terrorists and anti-nationals. Additionally, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Akhal Takht have demanded an immediate ban, claiming the film engages in “character assassination” of Sikhs by crafting a negative narrative against them.
Amitabh Bachchan recently schooled a contestant on his quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 who called unmarried women ‘Bojh’
In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan took a firm stand against a contestant’s derogatory remark about unmarried women. The incident occurred when contestant Krishna Selukar, an engineering graduate who lost his job during the coronavirus lockdown, made a comment comparing his unemployment to the perceived burden of an unmarried woman on her family. He said, “Agar mei kahu bina shadi ki ladki gharwalo par bojh hoti hai na sir, ek umar hone ke baad berozgar ladke utna hi bojh hote hai,” which translates to “If I say that an unmarried lady is a burden to her family, then after a certain age, an unemployed man is also a burden.”
Amitabh Bachchan immediately interrupted the contestant, making it clear that such a view is outdated and harmful. He emphasized that women are never a burden, stating, “Ek baat batye aapko. Ladki joh hai bojh kabhi nai ban sakti. Bahut badi shaan hoti hai mahila,” which means, “Let me tell you something. A woman can never be a burden on the family. She is always an honor.” Bachchan’s words resonated with the audience, highlighting his respect for women and his commitment to challenging regressive mindsets.
Amitabh Bachchan has been the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati since its inception in 2000, with the exception of the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The 16th season of the show premiered earlier this month on Sony TV. During the first episode, Bachchan shared an emotional message with the audience, expressing his deep gratitude for their unwavering support over the years. Reflecting on his journey with KBC, he said, “Today marks the start of a new season. But I’m a little short of words today. And that’s because no word has the capacity to convey the gratitude for your love.” He continued, “I can’t come up with the words to thank you for your prayers which gave a new life to Kaun Banega Crorepati, which illuminated this stage again, and which reunited a family and allowed me to be present among you. I salute this country’s people for the resurrection, rebuilding, and rebirth of KBC.”
Om Raut recently opened up about the controversy surrounding his film Adipurush and even tagged the leading man of the film Prabhas a ‘flop-proof star’
Bollywood director Om Raut was heaped with admiration and praises for directing Ajay Devgn, Kajol, and Saif Ali Khan starrer Tanhaji: The Great Warrior. He gained recognition and left his fans ecstatic when Adipurush was announced. However, the Ramayan adaptation starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, failed to impress the critics and audience. Now, after almost a year of film’s release, Om has spoken up about the controversy surrounding his film Adipurush and even tagged the leading man of the film Prabhas a ‘flop-proof star’.
In an interaction with Marathi chat show host Amol Parchure, for his podcast Catch Up, Om Raut called out the trolls. Speaking about his minimal media appearance after the film’s release he stated that he was tired of the constant trolling and the toxic environment it created for him. He shedded light on the fact that despite the outrage on social media, Adipurush’s box-office collection was huge.
Talking in Marathi, he said that the film’s criticism and it’s box-office performance are two completely different things. He added, “In the case of ‘Adipurush’, the revenue was huge. The film did Rs 70 crore in India alone on the first day. Our box office still did Rs 400 crore [despite criticism]. So, the numbers are very large. It did so well at the box office.” Raut went on to add that there was a loss of perception when it came to Adipurush. He said, “Had we not lost on the perception, we would have seen exorbitant numbers which we didn’t see.”
Speaking about the leading man of the film, Raut lauded actors like Prabhas and Salman Khan for being ‘flop-proof’ because of their huge fan-following. He explained that because of the image that they have built, their image are never affected by a few flop films. He said, “Actors like Prabhas and Salman Khan are flop-proof stars. They have a big fan following, a certain perception, and a certain image that doesn’t get affected by some flops. They are just beyond.”
Kareena Kapoor responded to MP court notice over her book title ‘Pregnancy Bible’ and clarified she had no intentions of hurting any religious sentiments
Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally addressed the legal notice served to her by the Madhya Pradesh High Court concerning her book, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible. The notice was issued in May following a petition filed by advocate Christopher Anthony, who called for a ban on the sale of the book, claiming that its title “hurt the religious sentiments” of a community.
In her response on Tuesday, Kareena strongly objected to the petition, clarifying through her legal representatives, Divya Krishna Billaiya and Nikhil Bhatt, that she had no intention of offending any religious beliefs. The actress emphasized that the title of her book was not meant to disrespect any religion or religious text. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has scheduled the next hearing on the matter with Justice GS Ahluwalia on September 10, where the case will continue to be examined.
Kareena’s lawyer, Divya Krishna Billaiya, reiterated that the book, Pregnancy Bible, was not intended to hurt religious sentiments. In her official response, Kareena also reportedly referred to the book as her “third child,” indicating the personal significance it holds for her. The controversy stems from the use of the word “Bible” in the title, which petitioner Christopher Anthony, a social activist from Jabalpur, argued was disrespectful to the Christian community. Anthony stated that the Bible is a sacred text for Christians worldwide, and he found it inappropriate to compare it with Kareena Kapoor Khan’s experiences with pregnancy.

Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he said, “If they portray Sikhs as terrorists in the film, fir yaad rakhna jiska movie kar rahi hai uska kya scene hua tha. Remember who Satwant Singh and Beant Singh were. Jo hume ungli karte hai, vo ungli hi chatka dete hai hum… Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai.”
What is happening in our nation? People are openly threatening the life of BJP MP and Bollywood actress 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘂𝘁 simply for portraying India’s history. Is it wrong to tell the story of the Iron Lady of India, who is celebrated as one of the country’s strongest… pic.twitter.com/w1QWJhAkG3
Another man goes on to bash her and state that even after the threats if she does release the film, she will get hit by shoes, just like she was slapped. Calling himself a “proud Indian,” he said that his brothers from other religions will also hit her. The man added, “If I spot you anywhere in my country and in my Maharashtra, I’m saying this, not just as a Sikh and a proud Marathi, but all my Hindu, Christian and Muslim brothers will also welcome you with chappals.”

Farhan Akhtar revealed that his mother Honey Irani asked him to go live with his father Javed Akhtar because of his drinking habit
Filmmaker, musician, and actor Farhan Akhtar has made a name for herself in the Hindi entertainment industry. Son of veteran Bollywood lyricist and screen writer Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, he recently opened up about his personal struggles after the divorce of his parents. Talking to Faye D’Souza for her YouTube channel, he recalled the hardships his mother faced while single-handedly raising him and his sister Zoya Akhtar. He expressed how he felt like a failure when his mother had asked him to live with his father after discovering his drinking habit.
Shedding light on the hardships faced by Irani while raising him and Zoya, he said that his mother took care of them while working so the last thing she needed, at that time, was for one of her kids to be like that. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, Farhan added, “I was drinking and doing a lot of other things like that. At that moment when I saw the effect of that on her, and when it came to a head with her, she was just like, ‘Listen, I have tried my best with you, but, I can’t. Maybe you go and live with your dad for a bit.’ I felt like I failed her as a son. That was the first time I felt horrible in the pit of my stomach like she doesn’t deserve this.”
The Dil Chahta Hai director went on to point out that even if he wasn’t treating his mother badly, he was still adding on to her stress, something that she didn’t need at the time. “That horrible feeling motivated me to go out and start working,” he concluded.
Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic mutually parted ways recently and now a source close to the couple revealed the reason for their divorce
Weeks after Natasa Stankovic and Hardik Pandya announced their separation, it has come to light that the decision stemmed from irreconcilable differences, primarily revolving around Hardik’s personality. According to an insider close to the former couple, Natasa found it increasingly challenging to cope with Hardik’s flamboyant and self-centered behavior. Despite her efforts to adapt and find peace with his nature, the ongoing discomfort eventually led her to decide that parting ways was the best option.
The source shared that Natasa tried to match Hardik’s larger-than-life persona, but it ultimately left her feeling uncomfortable. The stark contrast in their personalities created a gap that she found impossible to bridge, making it a tiring and emotionally draining process. As time passed, it became evident that Hardik’s demeanor wasn’t going to change, which solidified Natasa’s decision to step back. The insider described the separation as a slow and gradual wound that kept hurting Natasa, leading her to the painful realization that they were no longer compatible.
Natasa and Hardik, who tied the knot in May 2020, had renewed their wedding vows in a grand ceremony according to Hindu and Christian rituals in February 2023. However, by July 2024, they announced their separation, releasing a joint statement that emphasized the difficulty of their decision. They expressed that they had given their best effort to make the relationship work but ultimately believed that separating was in their best interest.

In a sleepy summer weekend at the box office, holdovers reigned supreme as newcomers landed without a splash.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” reclaimed first place at the North American box office in its fifth weekend with $18.3 million. Its cumulative international earnings now sit at over $1.2 billion.
The Walt Disney Co., which owns 20th Century Studios, claimed the top two spots on the charts for the second weekend in a row with “Alien: Romulus” following close behind the foul-mouthed superhero movie. The latest installment in the 45-year-old franchise brought in $16.2 million in its second weekend after a promising opening. Disney’s “Inside Out 2” also remained on the charts, raking in $2.1 million domestically in its 11th weekend. Its global earnings are now over $1.6 billion.
“This is an incredible turnaround for Disney, who almost fell off the radar, shockingly enough, last year and over the course of the pandemic,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore. “They got a couple of billion-dollar films out so far and ‘Moana 2’ is still up on the way. This is a huge comeback year for Disney – no question about it.”
Romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” another repeat chart-topper, landed in third place for the second consecutive weekend with $11.9 million. The Sony movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed, has made $242.6 million to date globally. It cost only $25 million to produce.
The new releases were victim to the crowded movie marketplace, resulting in what Dergarabedian called “box office déjà vu,” with the familiar films dominating and making it harder for the new releases to find their footing. Dergarabedian says the upcoming Labor Day holiday will likely benefit the newer titles as word-of-mouth spreads and more people head to theaters during the long weekend.
“Blink Twice,” directed by Zoë Kravitz and starring her life partner Channing Tatum, saw a modest opening, taking in $7.3 million and claiming fourth place on the charts. The Amazon MGM Studios psychological thriller follows Tatum as tech magnate Slater King, who whisks two women away to his private island. While it may seem like a picture-perfect vacation at first, much more sinister events unfold as the visitors learn the truth about the island and the billionaire. The film’s budget has been reported at $20 million.
Reviews have been mixed, with audiences giving the film a B- CinemaScore, but the film has been deemed Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 79% score.
Rounding out the top five was “The Forge,” a faith-focused coming-of-age movie about a young man finding his way through Christianity. The film opened with $6.6 million and received an A+ CinemaScore from audiences. It was released by Affirm Films, Sony’s faith-based banner.
Another new release, “The Crow,” was beat out by “Twisters” and “Coraline” in the rankings. “Twisters” entered its sixth week with $6.2 million in domestic earnings and “Coraline,” which was re-released for its 15th anniversary last week, brought in an additional $5.1 million in its second weekend.
Rajkummar Rao’s latest film Stree 2 has garnered more than ₹500 crores worldwide.
Rajkummar Rao is riding high on the success of his latest horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. The film crossed Rs 386 crores in India and surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide in just 11 days. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel to the 2018 movie has set the box office on fire.
Talking about the success of Stree 2, Rajkummar Rao, in an exclusive interview with News18, said, “We were sure that the film would get lot of love because of the love that Stree 1 got. There’s a big fan-following for Stree, including me. I am a huge fan of Stree myself. But these numbers are way above our expectations. We are glad and super elated. There’s a lot of gratitude that this is happening with a film like Stree, because it is content-driven film.”
“Versatile” is a term synonymous with Rajkummar Rao. His films and the roles he has played so far have been very different from one another, and time and again, the Omerta actor proves his versatility through the types of films he cherry-picks. “I try and choose different characters. People should not say that Raj only does certain kind of cinema. I want to do everything — comedy, drama, biopics, horror-comedy, action – why not! I don’t want to put myself in a slot. So, that’s a very conscious decision that I challenge myself as an actor with different characters. Also, that’s what keeps me going,” he shared.
Rao has firmly established himself as a Bollywood superstar, but his journey to success was far from easy. When asked about it, he said, “There’s a lot of gratitude. God has been really kind. I have got a lot of love from the audience and they have accepted me for who I am. I have come from nowhere. I come from a very humble beginning. I didn’t grow up with money around me. I am one of their [audience’s] own. A lot of messages I get say that it feels like a personal victory, which is overwhelming.”
Opening up on his early days, Rao shared, “The journey wasn’t easy. It was tough. Starting from my theatre days in Delhi, where, sometimes, I didn’t have enough money to take the state transport. So, I would cycle 70 km up and down. Then, coming to Mumbai after FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) – it is an expensive city. So, just to survive here was a task. I didn’t know anyone, where to start, who to meet. I used to figure my way out.”

The image showed a drastically different Ayesha, who appeared nearly unrecognizable after reportedly undergoing plastic surgery. This drastic change in her appearance led to a wave of online trolling, with many netizens harshly criticizing her “new look.” However, it seems that Ayesha has chosen not to engage with the negativity surrounding her. In a surprising move, she has deleted her Instagram account, leaving many of her followers puzzled.
On Friday morning, fans noticed that Ayesha’s Instagram profile had mysteriously disappeared from the platform. The deletion of her account was sudden and came without any prior announcement or explanation. Many people speculated that Ayesha’s decision to remove her profile was a direct response to the intense scrutiny and criticism she faced online after her latest photo went viral. The backlash began when Ayesha shared a selfie in which she was dressed in a traditional kanjeevaram saree paired with elaborate gold jewelry. However, it wasn’t her attire that caught the attention of her followers but rather her visibly altered appearance, which included noticeable changes from plastic surgery, a lip job, and other cosmetic enhancements.
The comments section of her post quickly filled with shocked reactions, with many fans expressing their dismay and confusion over her decision to undergo such procedures. “Oh god, what has she done to her face?” was a common sentiment among the comments. The overwhelming negativity likely played a role in Ayesha’s decision to withdraw from the social media platform altogether.
Whether Ayesha will choose to create a new, more private profile or eventually return to her original account remains uncertain. Her sudden departure from Instagram has left fans wondering about her next move. Ayesha, who was last seen on the big screen in the 2011 film Mod, has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years. In a previous post, she had made it clear that she had no intention of returning to the film industry and was content with her life away from the limelight. She had also addressed the criticism about her appearance, calling out the unrealistic expectations people have for her to look the same as she did during her teenage years. “Expecting a girl who’s mostly been seen in her teens to look identical even after 15 years…How unrealistic and ridiculous are these people,” she wrote, highlighting the absurdity of the standards imposed on celebrities.

Before making his debut with Tere Mere Sapne in the 90s, Arshad Warsi worked as a choreographer in Boney Kapoor’s production venture, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in 1993. After his recent interview with Samdish Bhatia, Arshad has invited wrath from a section of celebrities from Indian cinema. The actor also alleged that he was underpaid for choreographing in the 1993 movie. Now, producer Boney has reacted to Arshad’s claims regarding his remuneration of receiving Rs 25,000 less than the total amount. Boney stated that he wasn’t a star back then.
During the latest interview with Bollywood Hungama, Boney Kapoor shared his thoughts about Arshad Warsi alleging that he was paid less as a choreographer in Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. The filmmaker stated that he read Arshad’s recent statement and ended up laughing that it took the actor three decades to bring the 1992 incident up.
Talking about Arshad’s remarks for Anil Kapoor and Sridevi-starrer, Boney said, “…1992 mein shoot kiya aur yeh abhi baat kar raha hai iske baare mein (We shot it in 1992 and he is discussing this matter now). At that time, he was not a star.” The producer wondered about how the makers would have paid him a huge amount.
Boney continued that the makers initially believed that it would take four days to complete the choreography but song director Pankaj Parashar finished the track in three days. The producer claimed that Arshad received Rs 75,000 for three-day-long choreography with a per-day payment of Rs 25,000.
Boney Kapoor, who later worked with Arshad in a TV show, recalled that the Golmaal actor never discussed this incident during those times. The producer called himself a “soft target” while suggesting that everyone craves “media attention” these days.

Recently, Dalljiet took to her Instagram to share updates regarding her ongoing divorce proceedings with Nikhil, revealing that the first hearing has already taken place in Nairobi. Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has worked extensively in the Hindi entertainment industry. He rose to fame as the ‘angry young man,’ despite having experienced his fair share of ups and downs in his career and personal life. He recently made the headlines for his exceptional performance as Ashwatthama in Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD. The senior actor has now opened up about why he has been continuously working even at the age of 81, instead of taking a break and resting.
Often known to take to his blog, he recently answered the much-asked question in a long penned note. Beginning his blog, Bachchan Sr. expressed that he doesn’t know how to address the question as he doesn’t have a specific answer. He went on to share that he is often asked why he continues to work on the sets of his projects and added that while he doesn’t have an answer for it, it is simply a fact that he is presented with “another job opportunity.”
Quoted by India.com, the Brahmastra actor said, “They keep asking me on set why I continue to work, and I have no answer for this, except that it’s another job opportunity for me… what else could possibly be the reason? Others have their own assessment of situations and conditions and often like to apply their model as the prime one. Wear my shoes and find out… maybe you are right, and maybe not. You have the liberty to have your conclusions, and I have the liberty to work.”
Bachchan went on to express that his reasons for working continuously might not align with others, but they are given the “right to express,” and that their concern for him is often heard. He added, “You spoke, I heard, I gave my reason for continuing to work… that is me. What reason I have is mine, enclosed, shuttered, and locked. And the ‘impotency of content’ compels you to build your own sandcastles and enjoy their construction. In time, sandcastles fall down.”

Ajay Bhupathi took to his official social media handle to slam Arshad Warsi’s comment on Prabhas’ acting in Kalki 2898 AD
Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi gained recognition in the Hindi entertainment industry for his comic timing with his portrayal of Circuit in Sanjay Dutt starrer Munnabhai MBBS. He never shies away from expressing his views on the films made in Bollywood. During a recent interaction, he openly critiqued Kalki 2898 AD and shared that he didn’t like the film. While he heaped praises on Amitabh Bachchan’s portrayal of Ashwatthama, he felt like Prabhas’ character looked like a ‘Joker’ in the film.
Arshad’s view on Prabhas’ character Bhairava left the netizens divided. Director Ajay Bhupathi too joined the bandwagon and harshly reacted to a viral video of the actor calling Prabhas’ character a joker. Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, the director slammed him and wrote. “#Prabhas is the man who has given everything & will do anything to take Indian Cinema to the world audience, a Pride of our nation. We can see the jealousy on that film, on him in your eyes just because you’ve faded out & no one gives an eye to you. There’s a limit & a way to express our opinion… Seems like you’re the one that you’ve said about him.”
For those who don’t know, during an interview with Samdish Bhatia for his podcast, the Jolly LLB actor said, “Prabhas, I am really sad. Why was he? He was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. Oh, Kangana, Kangana, there’s never a dull moment, is there? The fiery queen of Bollywood has once again unleashed her verbal arsenal, this time targeting the industry’s obsession with protein shakes and designer handbags.
Who knew the world of cinema was such a superficial playground? “They just meet, drink, and go, ‘Hey babe, what a bag! Oh my god, I love that bag.’ I would be shocked to find a decent person in Bollywood who can talk beyond branded bags and cars,” exclaimed the actress and Member of Parliament from Mandi.
Well, Queen, we’re not sure if you’re being brutally honest or just stirring the pot. But one thing’s for sure, your quotes are always as juicy as a gossip column! From Reebok to Emami, Myntra to Melange, Kangana has certainly had her fair share of brand endorsements. But with her outspoken nature and tendency to ruffle feathers, it seems even the most daring brands are getting cold feet. Can you blame them? Associating with Kangana is like riding a rollercoaster – you never know when the next loop-de-loop will come. Thus, Kangana, the self-proclaimed Bollywood barometer, has once again dipped her toes into the cesspool of celebrity gossip.
Apparently, B-town is a breeding ground for vacuous, protein-obsessed beings who care more about their Birkin bags than their acting chops. Who knew? From “Fashion” to “Fashion Victim,” Kangana’s journey is as dramatic as a Karan Johar weepie. She’s either BFFs with the Khans or their biggest hater. Make up your mind, girl! It’s like watching a tennis match where the ball keeps changing sides.
What Kangana says about Bollywood and brands is partly true but only for a bare minimum of actors whose rise has been solely within the PR and celebrity circuit. Many may not even know some of the actors appearing in TV commercials, though they charge a bomb. The reason is that there are film stars, TV stars, web stars, and social media stars. In 2021, after Kangana’s controversial tweet about the post-election violence in West Bengal, many Indian fashion designers decided to boycott her. Kangana was often a regular at fashion shows, akin to her character in the film “Fashion,” but three years ago, she lost out on that too when designers like Rimzim Dadu and Anand Bhushan decided not to skirt the issue after being needled.

Neena Gupta Looks Back At Life Decisions After Winning National Award For Unchai: Settled For Small Parts, Was A Mistake | EXCL (Credits: Instagram)
Neena Gupta was recently announced winner of the National Award for her performance in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, and Parineeti Chopra.
In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, Neena talked about her life, career, decisions and more.
How does the National Award make you feel?
I am very very happy. I was very surprised, happily surprised and I am flying high in the clouds saying thank you to God and I am grateful to everyone, and I am patting myself on my back saying, ‘Baby, keep on working hard, you will get appreciation.’
Which according to you are the turning points of your career?
Funnily, the first project, if you can call it a project of mine, which made me a little famous was an ad for Hawkins Pressure Cooker. After that, I think I struggled, struggled, struggled for a long, long time, many, many years and then my serial SAANS happened, which was a game-changing thing for me. And after that, Badhai Ho happened. I think these are the three things that changed my career path, and career growth.
What is your advice to the working girls today?
They don’t need my advice. I’m very proud of the girls today who are balancing their family life and their careers and are successful in both, which is a very amazing thing, a very difficult task to do. Earlier, if the woman heroine got married, she never got work. Now the girls are working, actresses are working. Even after having kids, they work hard on their bodies. They lose weight and they are there. They look after their kids, their in-laws, their families, their parents and still work. So that is a very, very big thing that has happened. It has happened with very few people, but it’s a very major beginning of our times.
Do you feel the institution of marriage is obsolete? Are live-in relationships the solution?
I don’t know because I don’t see any other alternative to the institution of marriage. About live-in relationships, I actually do not know. I have not understood whether it is good or bad for people. The point is that our patience has grown very low because we live in a very complicated world, a very competitive world. And as women are getting more and more educated, getting more and more financially independent, they won’t take any nonsense from anybody. Marriage, I think, is a lot of compromise, and a lot of adjustment to each other, which is becoming more and more difficult every day. So actually, I’m very confused as to what should happen. Should one get married or live in or stay single or adjust to have a longer marriage where they have a companion and children in their old age I feel family is the most important thing in this world. Your work will come and go, your fame will come and go. You can be very successful and famous, but eventually, it’s the family you need as your strength.
Loneliness is the new pandemic?
I think a very important reason for declining mental health, and depression is because one is lonely. So that problem will, I think, mount slowly and people will have to learn how to cope with it and think as to what is important for them. And there is no right or wrong way, there is no easy way. You are single and lonely, that’s a problem. You are married, a bad marriage, that’s a problem. You are divorced, that’s a problem. Problems are everywhere. So it is up to you what is your priority. I have learned because I have been alone for almost more than half of my life and it is very difficult.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut reveals that she rejected films featuring Akshay Kumarm Ranbir Kapoor and the three Khans as the female roles were limited
Kangana Ranaut recently opened up about her decision to turn down film offers starring some of Bollywood’s biggest names, including Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. Known for her strong stance on various issues, Kangana revealed that her choice not to work with these A-lister actors, as well as the Khans—Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan—was a deliberate and conscious one. She explained that this decision was driven by her desire to prove that actresses can carve out successful careers in Bollywood without relying on the industry’s most prominent male stars.
During a candid discussion on a podcast with Raj Shamani, Kangana shared her thoughts on the typical roles offered to women in films led by these top actors. She pointed out that such films often reduce female characters to a handful of scenes and a couple of songs, something she found unappealing. Despite her positive experiences with the Khans, who she noted had always treated her well, the Manikarnika star decided to decline their films because she didn’t want to play a stereotypical role with little substance. She emphasized that her refusal to work with these leading men was a statement of independence and a way to set a precedent for future generations of actresses.
Kangana highlighted her belief that success in Bollywood does not depend on working with the industry’s male powerhouses. She firmly stated that no Khan, Kumar, or Kapoor could make an actress successful; rather, it was possible for a woman to achieve top status in the industry on her own terms. By turning down films with these actors, Kangana aimed to challenge the notion that a heroine’s success is tied to the presence of a male superstar. She wanted to demonstrate that an actress could be successful independently, without needing to conform to the industry’s usual dynamics.
Son of Sardaar 2 producer claims Vijay Raaz demanded for a separate vanity van while the actor finally breaks silence on why he was kicked out of the project because of Ajay Devgn
Actor Vijay Raaz has been removed from the film Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, due to alleged issues with his behavior and demands on set. The decision to replace the Chandu Champion actor with actor Sanjay Mishra was confirmed by Kumar Mangat Pathak, co-producer of the film. According to Pathak, the removal was prompted by Vijay’s unreasonable demands, including requests for premium suites, a vanity van, and overcharging for his spot boy. Pathak elaborated that while the entire cast and crew were accommodated in standard rooms costing Rs 45,000 per night at one of the best hotels in the UK, Vijay insisted on premium accommodations. Moreover, the spot boy working for Vijay was reportedly paid Rs 20,000 per night, an amount that Pathak noted was excessive even for big actors.
Pathak strongly denied the claim that Vijay Raaz was removed because he failed to greet Ajay Devgn on set. He emphasized that the removal was strictly due to Vijay’s behavior and demands, which were considered inappropriate. Additionally, Pathak revealed that Vijay refused to refund the advance payment he had already received for the film and allegedly behaved rudely, stating that he was approached for the role and did not seek out the work himself.
In response to these allegations, Vijay Raaz shared his side of the story. He claimed that the real reason for his dismissal was that he didn’t greet Ajay Devgn upon arriving on set. According to Vijay, after he arrived at the shoot location and greeted director Vijay Kumar Arora and others, he noticed Ajay Devgn standing about 25 meters away. Since Ajay appeared busy, Vijay chose not to approach him immediately. Shortly thereafter, Pathak reportedly approached Vijay and informed him that he was being removed from the film. Vijay insisted that his failure to greet Ajay was the only possible misconduct on his part and refuted any allegations of inappropriate behavior.

The gruesome murder and rape of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata has sent shockwaves across the country. Bollywood celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Richa Chadha, Navya Naveli Nanda, Zoya Akhtar and others vented their rage against the lack of women safety in the country in poignant words. Ayushmann Khurrana, who is known for his poetic skills, wrote an emotional poem titled Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti (I wish I were a boy) and he shared a video on Instagram in which he can be seen reciting the poem. An excerpt from the poem reads, “Main bhi bina Kundi lagakar soti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti, Jhalli banke daudti udti, Saari raat doston ke saath phirti, Kaash main bhi ladka hoti…” (I would sleep without locking the door, I wish I were a boy. Carefree, I would run and fly, Roaming with friends all night, I wish I were a boy…)”
The Internet instantly responded to the poem. A user wrote, “Thank you the fraternity appreciates your support so much.” Another user wrote, “In an industry where everyone always stays silent, this is gold!” Another comment read, “Thank you so much for speaking up unlike most of other’s who have decided to keep their mouth shut.” Another comment read, “Heart wrenching!” Take a look:

In her note, Twinkle wrote, “Fifty years on this planet, in this country, and I am teaching my daughter the same things I was taught as a child.”
“Don’t go alone–to the park, to school, to the beach. Don’t go alone with any man, even if it’s your uncle, cousin, or friend. Don’t go alone in the morning, the evening, and especially not at night”, read her note further.
It then read, “Don’t go alone because it’s not a matter of if, but when. Don’t go alone because you may never come back.”

Meet actor who fled from home, did odd roles as he had only Rs 18 and is now Mirzapur star
Growing up in a family where there are always quarrels, it can be tough to find a voice for yourself. And that’s what made this actor leave his home. Known for being one of the finest character artists in Bollywood, this actor is now Bollywood’s heartthrob, and we aren’t even complaining. If you still cannot guess, this actor played a double role in Prime Video’s hit series Mirzapur.
We assume you guessed it right; today, we are talking about the rising star Vijay Varma. Seeing his breakthrough with 2016’s Pink, Vijay starred in several other successful titles, including Middle-Class Abbayi (2017), Gully Boy (2019), and Baaghi 3 (2020). What worked largely in his career’s favor was when the actor signed up to play the Tyagi brothers in the popular show Mirzapur (2020–present).
For those who don’t know, Vijay Varma started his acting career as a theatre artist in Hyderabad before moving to Pune for formal acting training in FTII. Soon after, the charmer moved to Mumbai and got a role in the acclaimed short film Shor, which even won the Best Short Film at New York’s MIAAC festival.
In an old interview with Film Companion, Vijay once revealed that he fled from home due to tensions with his father. The Rangrezz actor shared that he was the youngest in the family and hence ‘spoilt.’ After a certain age, Vijay started to have his own chain of thoughts that didn’t go down well with his father.
Varma added, “He wanted me to join the business, and I wanted to do anything but work with him. So, that’s where the conflict started, and he was also strong about his stand, and I was fighting for my stand. It went on for years until I decided ‘I don’t think this man wants what is good for me’, then I ran away from home.”
In another interview with Galatta Plus, Vijay once shared how his financial crunches made him take up a role even when he didn’t want to. “One time, when I was at my lowest low, I didn’t have any money. I had Rs 18 in my bank account, and there was a call that came,” Vijay shared, adding he was told to play a small reporter for one-day shoot and were paying him Rs 3000.
The Yaara actor accepted that he would have never done it had it not been for his financial difficulties. The actor revealed that even when he was shooting because his heart wasn’t there, he fumbled a lot, which led to him getting fired from the set immediately. “I had finished Monsoon Shootout by that time, so I had played a lead by then, but I went through that experience, and I was crying on my way back; I told myself that I would never take up anything for money,” Varma shared.

Ranvir Shorey recently opened up about his old retort to Jaya Bachchan’s statement on the outsider vs nepotism in Bollywood debate
Ever since the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, debate around ‘outsider vs nepotism in Bollywood’ has been prevalent. Ranvir Shorey, who recently participated in the Anil Kapoor-hosted controversial reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3, has been vocal about the mistreatment of ‘outsiders’ in Bollywood for quite sometime now. From speaking about it on his official social media handles to sharing his views during recent interviews, his honest answers have been making the headlines.
During an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Shorey was asked about his comment on Jaya Bachchan’s ‘thaali’ remark in respect to the ongoing ‘outsider vs nepotism in Bollywood’ debate. Well taking about the same, the actor denied making the comment on the veteran actress-turned-politician’s remake. He explaiend how back then the comment was spreading like wild fire and it was his opinion on the matter.
The Chandni Chowk To China actor, quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, said, “I did not say it on Jaya ji’s remark, whatever she said at that time was all over the internet. Everybody was talking about that thaali. So even I also gave my opinion but it was not in reply to her.”
He went on to further add that he must have been very angry to make such a comment back then. While people often compliment him for putting down his thoughts honestly on social media. However, he added that he feels that he should take a step back. Ranvir added, “Today if I have to express the same thing. I would probably not express it so sarcastically. I didn’t have to be so angry about it. Maine ye tab likha hai jab mere andar voh gussa panap raha tha, double treatment that met it out in Bollywood. Uspe I think this expresses my anger.”
Rajpal Yadav had set up ‘Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited’, a production house, in the name of his parents in 2005 and taken a loan of ₹5 crore.
Actor Rajpal Yadav fails to repay loan
A part of a property belonging to film actor Rajpal Yadav in his native Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh has been sealed by a Mumbai bank over non-repayment of a loan, an official said on Wednesday. Manish Verma, manager of the Shahjahanpur branch of Central Bank of India, said the actor had taken a loan from the Mumbai branch of the bank by mortgaging his property in his native district.
When contacted by PTI, the Mumbai-based actor declined to comment on the matter. Sources close to the actor said Yadav had set up ‘Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited’, a production house, in the name of his parents in 2005 and taken a loan of ₹5 crore from the Bandra Kurla Complex branch of the Central Bank of India in Mumbai.
At the time of the sealing of property, he owed the bank ₹11 crore, they said. On August 8, a team from the Mumbai bank sealed a part of the house located near the Dak bungalow, they added.
According to locals, the bank officials sealed the building in such a hurry that they failed to even switch off electrical items inside the house. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said he had no information about the sealing as local police’s help was not sought in the matter by the bank.
His theatre guru from early days, Jarif Malik said the award-winning actor hails from Kunda village of Shahjahanpur district and visits the place at least once every year without fail. Yadav got his initial education in Banda town there and after that, he moved to Shahjahanpur for graduation. It is during his stay in Shahjahanpur that he became interested in theatre, Malik said.
Kangana Ranaut said she ‘would love to produce and direct a film with all three Khans’. She has often taken jibes at Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
Kangana Ranaut spoke about Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan at Emergency trailer launch event.
At the trailer launch of her upcoming film Emergency – she played the role of the late Indira Gandhi in the film, and also directed it – Kangana Ranaut interreacted with the media. Answering a question, the actor-filmmaker shared her honest take on three of the most famous Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Also read: Kangana says she will never work with Shah Rukh Khan. Here’s why
Kangana wants to work with all three Khans
Kangana said, “I would love to produce and direct a film with all three Khans. And I would also love to show the talented side of theirs, wherein they can act, and also look good. And they can also do something, which is very significant to the society. I would like to make a film like that. Because I think they are all very talented.”
“Irfan Khan is one of my favourite Khans’
Kangana then revealed who her favourite Khan in Bollywood is. Kangana, who has often spoken out against Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan, said, “What they are doing is… of course they are adding a lot of revenue to the film industry and we should be eternally grateful to them. Also, they are engaging with a mass of people, who need that kind of engagement. I think there is a very artistic side to all three of them, which has not been explored other than in just a few films. And I would love to explore that with (them) and so many other actors. One actor that I always regret not being able to direct is Irfan Khan saab (sir); he is one of my favourite Khans and I would always miss him.” The actor died of cancer in 2020.
At the trailer launch, Kangana also said she has been ‘boycotted by the industry, adding it is not easy for anyone to stand with her or work with her anymore. She added it was not easy to ‘praise her’.
Her next film, Emergency, also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. Based on the period when emergency was imposed in the country, it stars Kangana as former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, known for his charismatic screen presence and shedding his shirt for both action and romantic roles over his three-decade career, is opening up about his motivation, the occasional lack of it, and what sustains his passion for film.
Addressing what he describes as the “generational change” that has happened in Indian cinema, Khan said that the thrills that audiences get at the movies are now “not an adrenaline rush, but an emotional rush. It has to keep on happening.”
The iconic actor, who has starred in 65 films, recently received a career achievement award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland and also delivered a masterclass at the festival. Khan’s breakout roles — the antagonist in “Darr” (1993) and the lead in “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (1996), which catapulted him to superstardom — were both filmed in Switzerland, so the award marked a “full circle” moment for him.
In an exclusive interview with Variety at Locarno, Khan discusses his recent action films, his approach to selecting roles and his views on the changing landscape of Indian cinema.
What does the Locarno Film Festival honor mean to you?
For me, it’s quite a journey. I started off becoming known as a romantic hero or a lover boy. So for me to come back to Switzerland and receive an award is nice. It’s like a full circle. I’d heard of the festival, it’s very popular and famous, but I’d never thought that I’d be here receiving an award. The idea is to be able to introduce not just my films, but Indian cinema from the north, south, east, west and say, “Here’s the highest filmmaking nation in the world.”
As you mentioned, you’re known as a romantic hero and you’ve done action films in the past, but none like “Pathaan” and “Jawan.” They were among the biggest Indian hits of 2023 and on a much larger scale than anything you have done before. What did you do to reinvent yourself as this massive action hero?
As much as I love it, I’m surprised by the term of being a romantic hero. I’ve never thought of myself as that, to be honest. The other day, I was sitting with [director] Aditya Chopra, who kind of started this process with “DDLJ” [“Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”]. And he said, “If we count, you’ve done about five or six romantic films, which are considered classic, sweeping romantic films — ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,’ maybe ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,’ ‘Dil To Pagal Hai,’ ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’” I don’t think “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” is a romantic film. I think I agree with him, but one gets obviously classified as that.
I have a dream. I want to have a room with pictures where — and this is not a narcissistic thing — if I look at my work, every film should feel of a genre that I have grown up watching. I’m not limited to a genre as a viewer. I like to see action films. Strangely, my least favorite is romantic films. I like science-fiction films, dystopian world films, off-beat, human drama films. I love courtroom dramas. I love thrillers. I sometimes like a horror film. I just felt a couple of years when I wasn’t working, that I haven’t done an out-and-out action film. I like Tom Cruise films. “Mission Impossible” — you don’t really have to worry. You will come back satisfied more often than not.
[“Pathaan” director] Siddharth Anand had this title for the last 15-20 years, and I remember him saying that if I ever make a film called “Pathaan,” it has to be with you, sir. Otherwise I won’t make it. So it all came long. I think we signed it in 15 minutes. And “Jawan” was a genre of South Indian films that I haven’t done. So these were two things I think I haven’t touched upon, and I’m sure there are more and I’ll find out as I go along. For me, it’s not a reinvention, it’s the requirement of a role. I didn’t reinvent myself to play a vertically challenged person in “Zero,” I didn’t reinvent myself to play “Fan” as a little psychotic. It’s just adhering to and being honest to the genre of film that I’m in.
I know because the films did so well, people think I’ve reinvented after a sabbatical and come back. To be honest, it wasn’t so seriously thought out. Personally, if you ask me, I love action films. I love “Bad Boys.” I’ve done action before, but to participate in an absolutely in-your-face action film… I got the opportunity. COVID allowed me to build the body. You’re sitting at home working out. So, it all fell into place.
Coming to the period before “Pathaan,” “Jawan” and “Dunki,” some of your films could have done better at the box office and and there was a self-enforced hiatus of a few years.
I try to make it as varied as possible, given the parameters of commercial cinema. Yes, it should have its songs, dances, fights, emotions. But can we say something still new? So, all the films that I do, whether it’s “Jab Harry Met Sejal” or “Zero” or the ones which didn’t do well like “Fan” — I thought it was an interesting film. I love that film. Some of the ones I love the most are the ones which haven’t done well. And I have a reason for it. Cinema is a mass communication medium. It needs to communicate, very simply, to a lot of people. It should not intellectualize. It should not sermonize. I always keep saying it can’t moralize. It should just be simple. Some of these films which didn’t do well were so personal that they were not simple enough, they were so personal they got very shrunk.
The hiatus wasn’t because of the films. I’ve always maintained that the day I don’t feel like getting up in the morning and conquering the shoot, I don’t want to work. It wasn’t the failure of the films, to be honest. I was doing a film in January, and this was in December. Very unprofessional of me. I just woke up and I said, “I don’t want to go and shoot this film.” I called the producer and I said to him that I don’t want to work for a year. He said, “It’s not possible. You don’t sit without working for even a minute. So you don’t like the film, say no, don’t say you’re not working for a year.” And a year and a half later, he did call and he said, “I was really surprised you actually are not working.” So I just didn’t want to work. I just didn’t want to act. I didn’t feel like acting. Because for me, acting is genuinely very, very organic.
How did you keep yourself occupied during that time?
I learned how to cook. I learned Italian cooking. I think it’s great food. So I learned how to make the best pizza in the world. Hopefully, I’ll open a restaurant one day. I’ve got lots of facets now that I can indulge in. I learned how to clean. I started cleaning up the house, my room, starting with my handbag to my trolley bag to my laptop bag to different places in the house. I’m now the best cleaner in the house. I can vacuum, clean, I can mop. I can do everything. I did work out, because nothing else to do during COVID, because my hiatus went into COVID. Actually, the whole world went into hiatus when I decided not to work. So, for me, I didn’t lose many years as far as work is concerned, because nobody was working. And I watched films and spent a lot of time with the kids.
Your daughter Suhana was one of the leads in Netflix’s “The Archies” last year and your son Aryan is making his directorial debut with series “Stardom.” Do you advise your children on their career paths?
I don’t think I’m anyone to advise, because all our circumstances, our situations and things that happen to us as an actor — especially in the Indian film industry — are very unique … It won’t turn out [for them] how it turned out to be for me. So I think everybody’s experience will have to be unique.
I do find myself having less knowledge than my children about the way the world now perceives art or entertainment. I’m very good with the acting part. So, if they ever come to me and say, like my daughter does, “There’s a scene, can I just rehearse with you?” I’m not telling her how to say it, because I think her expression may be more relevant to how people like expressions now. I’m very intrigued by why people do it differently than I would, and that’s the reason I would never give them advice how to do it. My son is making his first series or storytelling directorial debut. He does come and ask me, “Does it work? Can it be shorter?” “No, I like it long.” I feel it’s important to say that. So, we have discussions, but I don’t know if I can put it as advisory. They both need to roll as they feel. And hopefully, if I can work with them, maybe [I’ll give them advice] during work. I learn and teach a lot. That’s what actors are supposed to do, give and take.
You’ve not done a Hollywood film so far. Under what conditions or circumstances would you consider doing one?
I think it’s the world’s greatest and biggest cinema in terms of reach and how people watch it. I don’t think I’m in a position to choose and put conditions, but yes, when an opportunity arises — I hope I can speak English well enough. And, I don’t want to sound uppity, but it should be a role worthy of the status the Indian audience has given me. It should not let down.
I come across as very flippant and happy-go-lucky, but I fully respect and realize the amount of adulation I have, how people adore me. People look up to what I do. People have given me too much respect. People have given me and my family everything that I have, people of India and all around the world, Indians and people from the subcontinent. And there’s a respect that I need to keep when I play a role in any film, whether it’s a Hindi film or a South Indian film or a Marathi film or a French film or a Hollywood film. So I don’t think anybody’s offered me that kind of role, yet. I don’t have an agent there. I’ve not also gone looking for it, to be honest.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in 2001.
Akshay Kumar’s upcoming release Khel Khel Mein is reportedly a remake of the 2016 Italian comedy-drama Perfect Strangers. The film revolves around seven friends whose dark secrets and phony lies are exposed when they decide to play a game involving their phones. This leads to the severing of marital bonds and friendships, while also making an important statement about how sometimes your closest confidantes can be masked strangers.
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Akshay reveals how he would react if his wife, Twinkle Khanna, were to read his personal messages. “I wouldn’t be scared if I had to show my phone to my partner. My phone lies around with my staff members. At home, it’s always lying around, charging. I’ve got nothing to hide,” the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and OMG 2 star tells us.
However, he quips that it could still make for an interesting game. “This game will be more fun than an outdoor game because outdoor games don’t give you the same kind of adrenaline rush. Khel Khel Mein revolves around relationships and explores the stories of three married couples at different stages and circumstances in their lives. Akshay plays the role of a middle-aged man who, despite being the glue among them, is going through a rocky marriage himself. When asked if he would like to offer any tips on marriage, he says, “I don’t want to give any tips to anyone. Everyone should learn through their own experiences in life. But marriage is a beautiful circle of life.”

Coz what else have I got other than my strength, my spirit and my Willpower.. So, what’s your excuse?”

“Its is most moving and one feels so helpless .. to the condition of the lives of these men and women who come in front of the millions that witness their struggles and years and years of strife … BUT .. with that most endearing smile which just melts us .. for the past few days the contestants and their lives that come before us have been most emotional and moving .. and we sit in the wonder of their narratives .. and try to extend helping hands for their needs and to try and overcome their harsh lives ..” Big B added.
“Despite the belittling that the World outside and they that have no consciousness or burn in their own manufactured stew , but deriving some inverse pleasure in filling up their coffers with the impotency of their content work .. these brave men and the gentle little girls, live their lives with courage and forthrightness that the evil pen pencil pushers or stabbers of the squares , derive .. shame on them ..” the superstar said.

She has such a soft heart, such a kind heart, and I really connect well with her. I think we’re just very good friends,” he said.
THIS weekend’s Oscars are in crisis — with half of the Best Picture films battling Covid scares.
Nominees have dubbed the panic “swab sweat” — as they nervously await two mandatory PCR tests 48 hours ahead of Sunday’s ceremony.
Stars including Lady Gaga, Dame Judi Dench, Will Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch — plus performers Billie Eilish and Beyonce — have been told they will be forced to miss both the prestigious pre-Oscars Governors Ball tomorrow night and the main event 48 hours later should they test positive.
Belfast director and nominee Kenneth Branagh tested positive last weekend and is missing tonight’s Oscar Wilde Awards in LA.
At least four other cast members from other movies, including multi-nominee The Power Of The Dog, have also caught Covid within the past week.
Last night an insider from Hollywood power-brokers United Talent Agency told The Sun: “Everyone is dealing with swab sweat.
“You get your nose swabbed and then you are sweating on whether the email will land showing you are positive. It is a really anxious time for major stars and nominees especially, knowing this may be their only chance of glory.
“All the events are asking for testing to show LA authorities they are following guidelines and adhering to the ongoing union-agreed coronavirus measures around live broadcasts.
“The socialising at events all week is obviously a major part of the celebrations, but there is a fear that anyone could innocently pick up Covid simply by mixing with an infected person.”
There is “significant concern about a widespread infection”, especially after many attendees at the Bafta Awards and parties two weeks ago caught the disease.
Aside from the main ceremony other events across Los Angeles, including private house parties held by A-listers, are demanding that attendees do an antigen test on arrival to keep others safe.
The tight health policy, which is spreading “the fear of missing out on the biggest night of the Hollywood calendar”, comes as LA health authorities and event organisers double down on safety.
Branagh is currently in isolation in LA hoping he can test negative before Sunday’s show to see whether Belfast takes home the prestigious Best Picture gong.
Cases of the BA.2 subvariant, which spreads 80 per cent faster than Omicron, have more than doubled in the US over two weeks, and it is set to become the dominant variant.
This week White House chief medical advisor Dr Anthony Fauci said cases were on the rise.
Masks are once again becoming mandatory indoors in many hotels, bars and indoor spaces, and it is thought serving staff at the event on Sunday will be told to wear them.
While the build-up to the biggest night in the film calendar is always manic, panic is palpably on the rise in Hollywood.
There is also mounting tension behind the scenes after Academy bosses decided to shorten the actual televised ceremony in order to boost ratings. With viewing numbers falling off a cliff in recent years, eight categories will now be pre-recorded.
This week Matthew Loeb, president of film crew union the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, called out the bosses over its “detrimental” plan to pre-tape, saying it wasn’t fair on the little-known members nominated.
He added: “Behind-the-scenes workers get little recognition as is.”
On Wednesday Peter Kurland, a four-time Oscar-nominated sound mixer who sits on the Cinema Audio Society’s board, resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over plans to axe live gongs for categories including Best Sound.
It is the second embarrassing resignation, coming three weeks after Tom Fleischman, an Oscar-winning re-recording mixer, quit.
This year it’s the Best Actress category which is generating the most public interest. Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Olivia Colman, Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman are all battling it out to scoop the coveted gong on the night.

Have you heard about Aperture 2025?
It may sound like a Roland Emmerich sci-fi movie, but it’s actually more frightening. And much more controversial. It’s the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s latest initiative to make Hollywood more equitable and diverse—more woke—by changing the rules by which films are eligible for Best Picture nominations. Here’s how it works: Starting in 2024, producers will be required to submit a summation of the race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability status of members of their movie’s cast and crew. If a particular movie does not have enough people of color or disabled people or gays or lesbians working on the set—and what is “enough” will be determined by a knotty tangle of byzantine formularies—then that movie will no longer be eligible for an Oscar.
Not surprisingly, the plan is not being universally applauded in Hollywood. Critics say it’s invasive, anticreative, opens the door to privacy issues, and is spectacularly unfair to actors and crew members, who may want to keep their sexual orientation or health profiles to themselves, not to mention to producers and directors who have enough to worry about while shooting a movie than to be saddled with the thankless task of tallying up the identity markers of their creative partners.
“I mean, why aren’t animals in this?” sneers one industry insider. “What if the main character is a horse?”
Unfortunately, Aperture 2025 isn’t the only Academy initiative to recently raise eyebrows in Hollywood. In February, Oscar organizers triggered a civil war in Hollywood over a plan to pretape many of the below-the-line categories—film editing, makeup and hairstyling, original score, production design, the short-film selections—and roll edits of those awards into the live broadcast. Predictably, many Academy members (especially film editors, makeup and hairstylists, and production designers) balked at the change, but at least that one was designed to address an actual existential threat to the ceremony: that it’s become so long and boring that huge swaths of the audience have begun tuning out.
“The Academy was out of touch with the public when it was mostly white, and it remained so when it became somewhat less white.”
Last year, the Oscars drew an all-time low of 9.85 million viewers—less than what an episode of TheBig Bang Theory used to get. Granted, the pandemic and the resulting dearth of theatrical releases contributed to the decline, but the truth is, Oscar ratings began plummeting long before COVID-19. At its height in the 1990s, the ceremony was pulling in as many as 55 million viewers in the United States. Even into the 2000s, it was drawing at least 40 million. But by the 2010s, the numbers started falling into the 30 millions and, by that decade’s end, had dropped further, into the 20 millions. The audience for the last pre-pandemic Oscars, in February 2020, was 23.6 million, less than half of its one-time peak.
There’s no shortage of theories to explain why viewers are turning off to the Oscars: The shrinking of movie actors as cultural icons (as TikTok and Instagram stars become the ascendant media gods); the reluctance of the Academy to update the ceremony, which has remained substantially unchanged since it was first broadcast in 1953; the growing chasm between the esoteric tastes of the Academy’s voting members (who this year nominated Drive My Car, a Japanese drama about a grieving theater director putting on a production of Uncle Vanya in Hiroshima) and the preferences of the wider theatergoing public (who likes Spider-Man).
Whatever the reason, the conclusion is inescapable: The Oscars are tanking. And no matter how well-intentioned Aperture 2025 may be, the initiative isn’t going to fix that problem. On the contrary, at this rate, by 2025, filmmakers with even the most equitable and diverse sets may not give a damn whether their films are eligible for an Oscar or not because hardly anyone will be watching.

THE ACADEMY—and Hollywood—has faced existential crises before. Back in the 1950s, when the cathode-ray tube first crackled to life, the industry convinced itself that television would eventually murder the movies. The studios concocted all sorts of wacky gimmicks—CinemaScope and Cinerama, 3-D, even Smell-O-Vision—to keep audiences in theaters and stave off cinema’s seemingly inevitable extinction.

When the actor stops and turns around, the fans gift him two red roses and says, “This is for you. Thank you for being so precious.” A pap can be heard saying, “Achhe se ghutne pe baith ke propose karo na (Go on your knees and propose to him).” One of the girls, then says, “Mera birthday hai (today is my birthday),” and offers Kartik the bouquet, which he refuses to take. The girls thank him before leaving.

With the 94th Academy Awards set for later this month on March 27, it couldn’t be better timing for some of the biggest nominees to hit streaming platforms in March. Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” boasts 10 Oscar nominations, the second most-nominated movie of the year, and it’s finally returning to HBO Max this month to stream after originally debuting on the streamer for 31 days last fall. Steve Spielberg’s seven-time nominee “West Side Story” and Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s four-time Oscar nominee “Drive My Car” are also streaming this month, just in time to boost visibility ahead of the Academy Awards telecast.
Outside of Oscar nominees, new additions to streaming platforms in March include memorable indies from 2021 such as “Mass” and “El Planeta.” Paul Verhoeven’s 2021 festival shocker “Benedetta” is also making its streaming debut on Hulu this month. Love Denis Villeneuve? In addition to “Dune” returning to HBO Max, the director’s “Blade Runner 2049” becomes available on Netflix later this month. Christopher Nolan fans will be able to stream “Dunkirk” on Netflix this month, too.
Check out the full list of the best films new to streaming in March 2022 (and which platforms to stream them on) in the list below.
1.After Yang (March 4 on Showtime Anytime)
Just like the release strategy for “The Humans” last fall, A24 is opening Kogonada’s intimate and heartfelt science-fiction drama “After Yang” in theaters on the same day it premieres on Showtime and becomes available to stream via the network’s Showtime Anytime app. The film stars Colin Farrell as a father figuring out how to mourn the loss of his family’s android in the near-future. From Variety’s review: “This film is precise, with its desaturated palette, meticulous framing and near-mathematical cutting style. And yet, Kogonada’s concerns remain fundamentally human. The movie’s pulse seldom rises above resting, but the director invites audiences to dive as deep as they want to go into the film’s themes, to read subtext into body language, silence and the space between characters.”
2. Drive My Car (March 2 on HBO Max)
Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car” is the rare foreign-language drama to break out of the international feature Oscar race and earn additional Oscar nominations for picture, director and original screenplay. From Variety’s review: “Haruki Murakami’s short story ‘Drive My Car’ is a sleek, streamlined slip of a thing that nonetheless, in the author’s signature style, packs an awful lot into its lean sentences. It’s a grief-stricken marriage story enfolded in a corrupted friendship study, related in turn via a separate tale of odd-couple companionship, all told in fewer than 40 pages…Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s deft, wise, whisper-soft adaptation of ‘Drive My Car’ never feels like an overextension of its delicate material. Instead, it pursues a kind of cinematic stillness to match Murakami’s plain, serene prose, and takes things suitably slow.”
3. West Side Story (March 2 on Disney Plus)
Steven Spielberg’s acclaimed “West Side Story” adaptation bombed at the box office with just $38 million in the U.S., which makes its arrival on streaming all the more important. Here’s a chance for many viewers to discover the magic of this exhilarating movie musical for the first time. From Variety’s review: “Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ has a brash effervescence. You can feel the joy he got out of making it, and the kick is infectious. Directing his first musical, Spielberg moves into the big roomy space of a Broadway-meets-Hollywood classic, rearranges the furniture (the film’s screenwriter, Tony Kushner, has spiced up the dialogue and tossed out the most cringe-worthy knickknacks), and gives it all a fresh coat of desaturated, bombed-out-city-block, gritty-as-reality paint. He makes it his own.”
4. Dune (March 10 on HBO Max)
Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” returns to streaming on HBO Max this month after originally debuting on the platform for 31 days on the same date it launched its theatrical release last October. The science-fiction epic earned 10 Academy Award nominations this year, including best picture, making it the second most-nominated movie of the year. From Variety’s review: “Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation has a majestic vastness, and most of it actually makes sense, but it’s an act of world-building that runs out of storytelling steam… ‘Dune,’ a majestically somber and grand-scale sci-fi trance-out, is full of lavish hugger-mugger — clan wars, brute armies, a grotesque autocrat villain, a hero who may be the Messiah — that links it, in spirit and design, to the ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ films, though with a predatory ominousness all its own.”
5. Mogul Mowgli (March 1 on HBO Max)
Riz Ahmed followed his Oscar nomination for “Sound of Metal” with this similarly-themed music drama about a a British-Pakistani rapper who, on the cusp of his first world tour, is struck down by an illness that forces him to face his past, his family and the uncertainty of his legacy. From Variety’s review: “Outside of Ahmed’s seething, spitting, can’t-look-away performance, ‘Mogul Mowgli’ is an atmospheric culture-clash drama that runs on some quite traditional father-son melodramatics…Ahmed’s turn is the substance and subtext here, drawing on his thespian and musical gifts, as well his personal history, to offer an impassioned reflection on the liminal place occupied by many immigrant artists in western culture.”
Kanye West has been barred from performing at the Grammy Awards due to his “concerning online behavior,” a rep for the artist confirms to Variety. Reps for the Recording Academy and CBS, which present the Grammys, did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment on the claim early Saturday.
Courtesy Revolt
West’s rep cited a report in the Blast posted late Friday claiming that the artist’s team received a phone call Friday night informing him he had been “unfortunately” removed from the lineup of performers for the show due to his “concerning online behavior.” While West, who is up for five 2022 Grammy Awards, was not among the first list of performers announced on Tuesday, he may have been a planned performer. A rep for West sent Variety a link to that story, saying only “This is confirmed”; the rep did not respond to requests for further information, although the Blast report states, “Our sources say Kanye’s team isn’t surprised by the decision.”
Nor should they be. While Academy reps did not respond to requests for comment, there are many reasons why a Kanye West performance on live network television would be a prohibitively risky proposition. Based on his social media posts and activity in the past few months alone, he might use the stage to continue his online harassment of Pete Davidson, his estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend; he could attempt to lobby public sentiment for custody of his children; he could make some statement in support of accused sex offender Marilyn Manson or unrepentant homophobe DaBaby, both of whom he has featured at his recent concerts or listening events; he could make more misguided statements about slavery or revive his stumping for former President Trump. Conversely, he could use the platform to do something that isn’t self-serving, self-referential or sheer trolling, like when he unexpectedly said “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people” during a televised Hurricane Katrina fundraiser in 2005.
Kim Kardashian, who reportedly told a court that Kanye West’s social media postings caused her “emotional distress,” seems unconcerned about her ex’s 24-hour Instagram ban. West, 44, was momentarily shut off of his Instagram account earlier this week and was unable to post, comment, or send messages for 24 hours, according to TMZ.
West’s most recent abusive social media behaviour was a racist insult for Trevor Noah.
“Kim found the suspension to be fair, but her reaction wasn’t very dramatic. She didn’t make a big deal out of it and joked that she needed a break for a day. All of Kanye’s posts have been exhausting for her though,” a source tells PEOPLE of the mother of four, who was declared legally single on March 1. The source further added, “It’s very impressive how calm and collected she is able to stay. She is very happy with [boyfriend] Pete [Davidson]. Her kids are doing great.” However, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February, after almost seven years of marriage. North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm are their four children.
Meanwhile, West’s most recent abusive social media behaviour was a racist insult placed on Daily Show presenter Trevor Noah’s Instagram page. West took aim at the comedian, 38, who has commented extensively on the Donda artist’s divorce from Kardashian, as well as how the rapper has handled her throughout their divorce. Noah then brought up some more recent instances that he regarded as troubling, such as West’s music video for “Eazy,” in which Davidson, 28, was buried alive in claymation.

Director Vivek Agnihotri, who has been in the news for his latest directorial The Kashmir Files, has been given ‘Y’ category security cover by the Central government. Read on to know details…
‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri gets ‘Y’ category security
The Central government has accorded ‘Y’ category security cover to ‘The Kashmir Files‘ director Vivek Agnihotri with CRPF cover pan India, government sources said on Friday.
The film, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been mired in controversy since its release on March 11 with the BJP and Opposition parties having conflicting views on it.
At a BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’ against attempts, he claimed were being made to discredit it. Bringing out the truth in the right manner, said the PM is always in favour of the nation. ‘Kashmir Files’, directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990.
On the other hand, Opposition parties are criticizing the film for showing “half-truth”.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party for backing the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ and said that that if the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ can be made on Kashmir, then ‘Lakhimpur Files’ can also be made.
Bachchhan Paandey is a film that should ideally have been an email that lands straight in our spam folder. That would have spared us the torture of sitting through some seriously deranged stuff.
There is a film within a film here. Kriti Sanon plays Myra who wants to direct her own movie. Fuelled by insults heaped on her by her film’s director and producer along with encouragement from her father to “go for it”, she decides to wait no more.
Some quick rounds of discussions lead her to the menacing one-eyed gangster Bachchhan Paandey of Baagwa. Too scared to approach him directly she camps with her friend Vishu (Arshad Warsi). They spy, snoop, sneak a peek and poke to get some information on the man who has a glass eye, kills like a maniac and has a crazy appetite for gore.
Could this “film within a film” idea actually be a spoof on how some filmmakers go about their business in Bollywood? Could be, but yours truly is so exhausted sitting through this mind-numbing utterly nonsensical affair that it’s tough to decipher any method to the madness.
We witness some random killings, people falling dead all around, fountains of blood oozing out and a gang rivalry of sorts where every adversary of Bachchhan Paandey is eventually decimated. Why would Akshay Kumar who lately has very consciously curated an image of a good citizen on screen play such a repulsive outlaw? Further, to do it in a film that adds no value at all? Obnoxious circumstances keeps piling up one after another.
“Mujhe bhai nahi godfather bolte hain” (They call me The Godfather, not brother) bellows Bachchhan Paandey. Songs with lines “Maarunga toh maa ki kasam marr jaayega. Fire hoon main… jal jaayega,“ (If I hit you, I swear on my mother, you’ll die. I’m fire, you’ll burn to ashes).
Abhimanyu Singh, Sanjay Mishra, Prateik Babbar as his sometimes comic, sometimes dreaded sidekicks try keeping busy while we rake our brains to understand the point of it all.
Bachchhan Paandey becomes yet another film that shows complete disregard for Arshad Warsi’s talent and brilliant comic timing. He has been given little to do previously and still every time he says his lines the film is imbued with charm.
Kriti Sanon wasn’t given a breathing character. She was provided with instructions and to her credit she follows through and looks radiant. An added bonus.
To explain Paandey’s proclivity to gore and violence we have a whole flashback thread complete with a Jacquline Fernandez giggling, rope walking and walking on stilts! Apparently, that’s what tourists do. Sigh! “Kya ye oonth hain“ (Is this a camel?) she asks pointing at camels to which Bachchhan Paandey replies “gadhe hain” (They’re donkeys). We nod. We all are.
Akshay sleepwalks through the film as if he has already given up on it. Pankaj Tripathi makes a joke of himself really by even agreeing for this. We don’t laugh with him, we don’t laugh at him, we are simply pained to see him put himself through this. Playing a Gujarati, it’s the first time we see such an inauthentic performance from Tripathi.
Overall Bachchhan Paandey is neither funny nor intriguing. He always looks like a character that can exist nowhere but in the futile imagination of some makers who think audiences like to pay money to dumb themselves down.
Arshad Warsi calls Circuit from Munna Bhai MBBS a ‘stupid’ role, reveals the reason he agreed to do it
Whenever we talk of Arshad Warsi’s film career, the one film and the one role that always comes to everyone’s minds instantly is that of Circuit. The actor played a sidekick to Sanjay Dutt in the Munna Bhai series and we have to admit that Arsha d and his role went on to become quite popular. In fact, even today Arshad is remembered for Circuit as much as Sanjay Dutt is remembered for playing Munna. But, in a recent interview, the Bachchhan Paandey actor opened up about playing this iconic role.
In an interview with Indian Express Arshad Warsi emphasized how important it is for him to know who is the lead actor of the film. He revealed that the only reason he said yes to Munna Bhai was Sanjay Dutt. He said that even Rajkumar Hirani knew that it is a stupid role and it was nothing on paper. In fact, the actor went on to reveal that even Makarand Deshpande had said no to Circuit. Arshad said that he listens to any script purely as an audience member and it should be something that the audience would love to watch, irrespective of any genre.
KANYE West has been “BANNED” from Instagram for at least 24 hours.
This comes after a marathon of violent threats towards his ex, Kim Kardashian, her new beau Pete Davidson and other stars.
A spokesperson for Meta told TMZ that Kanye’s recent posts “violated Instagram’s policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying.”
