A 29-year-old woman landed herself in trouble after she allegedly made a hoax call to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport helpline just to stop her boyfriend. The woman’s “he has a Bomb in his bag” call was made to stop her boyfriend from flying to Mumbai.
The incident reportedly took place on June 26 leading police to register a case. However, the cops on Wednesday filed an FIR under IPC Section 505(1)(B) (statements conducing to public mischief).
The accused, Indra Rajwar, is from Pune and works in Bengaluru.
According to Times of India, the complaint filed with KIA police mentioned that the woman called the airport helpline number, saying a passenger named Mir Raza Mehdi, who was flying from Bengaluru to Mumbai, was carrying a bomb in his bag. She claimed he was her boyfriend.
Following this, Mehdi, who was found at the airport, was frisked and checked for explosives. As the search did not yield anything, it was declared as a non-specific call.
Later it was found that Rajwar too was in the airport. The duo had booked tickets to Mumbai on different flights. They came to the airport in the evening and were sitting in the departure lounge speaking to each other before Rajwar called the helpline.
