Kunal Kamra’s tweet took the internet by storm as he can be seen highlighting the dark side of the quick commerce platform and how it’s exploiting gig workers.
On the first day of 2025, comedian Kunal Kamra made waves on social media with a scathing critique of quick commerce platforms. His tweet called out what he described as the exploitative practices of companies like Blinkit, a Zomato-backed delivery service that prides itself on 10-minute deliveries.
While we enjoy the convenience of quick commerce I’d like my first tweet of 2025 to be about the dark side.
Platform owners exploit gig workers & they aren’t job creators.
They are landlords without owning any land.
They don’t have a bone of creativity or innovation all…

“While we enjoy the convenience of quick commerce, I’d like my first tweet of 2025 to be about the dark side,” Kamra wrote. “Platform owners exploit gig workers & they aren’t job creators. They are landlords without owning any land.”
The post came shortly after Blinkit’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, celebrated record-breaking New Year’s Eve orders on X (formerly Twitter). Dhindsa highlighted over 1,22,000 packs of condoms, 45,531 bottles of water, and other party essentials as part of their highest-ever orders in a day.
1,22,356 packs of condoms
45,531 bottles of mineral water
22,322 Partysmart
2,434 Eno..are enroute right now! Prep for after party? 😅

Kamra’s response, however, shifted the focus to delivery workers, accusing platform owners of profiting from their labor while offering “freedom they can’t afford” and wages that “can’t meet their aspirations.” He went on to label them “thugs using data as oil without paying for the oil fields,” predicting that regulations would eventually “humble” such businesses.
Can you also enlighten us with data on the average wages you paid your “Delivery Partners” in 2024… https://t.co/v0yBlvobCQ
