The Patna Police lathi-charged Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants who took to the streets, attempting to gherao the offices of the BPSC, and demanding the cancellation of the examination.
They also demanded the re-examination of the BPSC exam after alleged irregularities came to the fore.
The aspirants have been staging protests in Gardanibagh for several days, expressing their grievances on the matter.
Protestors March Towards BPSC Office
On Wednesday evening, the protesting students marched towards the BPSC office to put forth their demands, which led to the escalation of the situation as the police used force to disperse the crowd.
The visuals showed hundreds of youngsters chanting slogans and holding placards and flooding the streets.
The police were regrouped and deployed in large numbers to contain the protestors. The use of force by the police drew sharp reactions from the aspirants who vowed to continue their protest.
Tejashwi Yadav Slams Govt
Former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav lashed out at the Nitish Kumar government and said, “Mentally ill people are running the state, they don’t even know what is happening in Bihar? BJP has crossed the limits of hooliganism in the state.”
He alleged that the BJP is “justifying the use of police brutality” against the aspirants.
“Until a few months ago, NDA leaders couldn’t stop labeling Nitish Kumar as mentally unstable, citing serious illnesses. Now, those same BJP-LJP-HAM leaders are bowing to his dictatorial decisions, justifying the use of police brutality against #BPSC aspirants and endorsing this hooliganism,” he posted on X.
