Magistrate KN Shivakumar rejected the application after taking into account the objections raised by the prosecution.
A court in Bengaluru on Tuesday rejected the bail application filed by Karnataka Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Suraj Revanna, elder son of HD Revanna and brother of Prajwal Revanna, in connection with a sexual abuse case.
Magistrate KN Shivakumar, who had reserved orders on Suraj’s bail plea on July 4 this year, rejected the application after taking into account the objections raised by the prosecution.
Earlier, Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik had opposed Suraj’s bail plea arguing that there existed prima facie evidence against the accused and that the allegations against him were grave and attracted the maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
Naik had also argued that there was the possibility of Suraj tampering with evidence if let out on bail.
Senior Advocate Aruna Shyam represented Suraj Revanna.
The court’s order is yet to be made public.
Suraj Revanna was arrested by the Hassan Police on June 23 following his interrogation a day prior.
