Kolkata: A SpiceJet flight headed to Bangkok with 178 passengers on board made an emergency landing at the Kolkata airport in the intervening night of Feb 27 and 28.
According to officials, just a few minutes after the Bangkok-bound flight took off, the pilot noticed that a blade of the left engine was broken, hence it was landed back in Kolkata.
Flight landed back to Kolkata, shortly after take off
The Boeing 737, operating for SpiceJet airline as flight SG83 took off at around 1.09 am from the Kolkata airport for Bangkok with with 178 passengers and six crew members on board.
Soon after take off the pilot noticed that a blade of the left engine was broken, then he contacted the air traffic control. A full emergency was declared at the Kolkata airport with emergency services such as fire engines, ambulances, and emergency teams of the CISF in waiting.
Passengers left on another flight in the morning
According to airport officials, the plane made an emergency landing at 1.27 am. All the passengers and crew members were rescued out safely. Later the full emergency was terminated at 2 am.
The passengers left for Bangkok on another flight at 7.10 am, officials added.
