A gunman opened fire inside a supermarket in US’s Texas on Friday. A 32-year-old man from Andhra was among those killed in the shooting.
A 32-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was among those killed in a shooting at a supermarket in Texas, the United States. Dasari Gopikrishna, who had moved to the US eight months ago in pursuit of better livelihood, worked at the supermarket.
Earlier, four people were confirmed dead, while several were injured in the shooting.
The shooting took place on Friday at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, a city with a population of about 3,200 people. Texas State Police Director Mike Hagar confirmed that the suspect was also wounded in a shootout with police.
The incident occurred just after 11.30 am while Gopikrishna was working at the check-out counter. An unidentified assailant entered the store and opened fire, critically injuring Gopikrishna.
A CCTV video shows the gunman shooting Gopikrishna, who is seen collapsing on the spot. The assailant then jumps over the counter and lifts something from the shelf.
Gopikrishna was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday while undergoing treatment.
Dasari Gopikrishna is survived by his wife and son.
