Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has worked extensively in the Hindi entertainment industry. He rose to fame as the ‘angry young man,’ despite having experienced his fair share of ups and downs in his career and personal life. He recently made the headlines for his exceptional performance as Ashwatthama in Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD. The senior actor has now opened up about why he has been continuously working even at the age of 81, instead of taking a break and resting.
Often known to take to his blog, he recently answered the much-asked question in a long penned note. Beginning his blog, Bachchan Sr. expressed that he doesn’t know how to address the question as he doesn’t have a specific answer. He went on to share that he is often asked why he continues to work on the sets of his projects and added that while he doesn’t have an answer for it, it is simply a fact that he is presented with “another job opportunity.”
Quoted by India.com, the Brahmastra actor said, “They keep asking me on set why I continue to work, and I have no answer for this, except that it’s another job opportunity for me… what else could possibly be the reason? Others have their own assessment of situations and conditions and often like to apply their model as the prime one. Wear my shoes and find out… maybe you are right, and maybe not. You have the liberty to have your conclusions, and I have the liberty to work.”
Bachchan went on to express that his reasons for working continuously might not align with others, but they are given the “right to express,” and that their concern for him is often heard. He added, “You spoke, I heard, I gave my reason for continuing to work… that is me. What reason I have is mine, enclosed, shuttered, and locked. And the ‘impotency of content’ compels you to build your own sandcastles and enjoy their construction. In time, sandcastles fall down.”
