Dehradun Water Crisis: After Bengaluru, it is Dehradun – another city on the foothills of the Himalayas which is facing water crisis amid rising temperature. About 120 localities within the city due are facing water shortage due to heatwave.
To address the water crisis in these areas, the state government has made an alternative plan and asked the Jal Sansthan (Water department) to supply water to these areas with tankers and then to make sure that generators are available at tube wells for uninterrupted water supply.
Dehradun Water Crisis News: Ground Water Level Depletes
The city of Dehradun at present is depending on 283 tube wells and three river-spring sources for its water supply. However, with the rise in temperature, the ground water level has gone down and it has affected the capacity of tube wells.
In Dehradun, the state Water Department said it has identified over 120 localities, 16 settlements, and colonies across four zones which are facing severe water shortages.
Speaking to jagran.com, Neelima Garg, Chief General Manager of Jal Sansthan (Water department), said all arrangements have been made and there is no water crisis.
She further added that a zone-wise plan has been prepared to address the drinking water issues and the department said it has arranged for 30 tankers, including eight departmental tankers, and 10 generators to power tube wells if electricity is disrupted.

North Zone: In north zone, the areas that are affected by water crisis include Johri, Naiwala, Suman Nagar, Saket colony, Aryanagar, DL Road, Kothar Gaon, Bagaria Gaon, Makkawala, Naya Gaon.
South Zone: In south zone, the areas that are affected by water crisis include Nashvilla Road, Chukhuwala, Dovalwala, Indira Colony, Vijay Colony, Chanderlok Colony, Tagore Villa, Lakhibagh, Bhandari Bagh, Ramnagar.
Raipur Zone: In Raipur zone, the areas that are affected by water crisis include Shastri Nagar, Chakshah Nagar, Upper Sarathi Vihar, Lower Sarathi Vihar, Bank Colony, Badrish Colony, Om Vihar.
