The actress was abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted inside her car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017, and later escaped in a busy area, police said., adding that there are 10 accused in the case.
Senior Kerala politician PC George sparked a controversy on Thursday after he said that the actress, who was abducted and sexually assaulted by a gang in 2017, has benefitted by getting more opportunities in movies, after the incident.
George, who is known for making controversial remarks in sensational cases, made this unsavoury remark against the actress during a press conference at the press club in Kottayam.
“The survivor is getting several films now…I do not think she suffered any loss after the issue. The loss which she had suffered in life as a woman might be huge, if the said incident was true. But, my belief is that she got benefits in other areas,” the former MLA alleged.
He even mocked the use of “survivor” while referring to the case, which involves actor Dileep, the eighth accused in the case.
George further slammed reporters who questioned his remarks during the press conference.
This was not the first time when the politician made the controversial remarks. Earlier, he had made alleged distasteful statements against the survivor and openly extended support to the actor.
