At least five people were killed and at least 20 were injured after a watchtower collapsed during the ‘Laddu Mahotsav’ organised by the Jain community in Baghpat’s Baraut city in Uttar Pradesh. According to DM Asmita Lal, 6-7 police personnel are also among the injured.
Baghpat SP Arpit Vijayvargiya, said that the watchtower collapsed during the ‘Laddu Mahotsav’ program injuring about 20-25 people. “2-3 people are seriously injured, who are undergoing treatment…” the SP added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the incident and directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work, the Chief Minister’s Office said, reported PTI.
