A roof collapsed following a blast at an ordnance factory in Maharastra’s Bhandara killing five people.
At least five people died following a blast at an Ordnance factory in Bhandara, Nagpur in Maharashtra on Friday morning. Several people are feared to be trapped after a roof collapsed due to the blast. PRO Defence Nagour said that the rescue and medical teams have been deployed for survivors and rescue is underway.
Collector Bhandara Sanjay Kolte said that after the explosion at the Ordnance Factory Jawahar Nagar Bhandara, firefighters and ambulances were dispatched to the spot. He said that a roof collapsed which is being removed with the help of JCB.
A total of 12 people are reported to be there, out of which 2 people have been rescued, he added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed pain over the incident. “Deeply saddened to know about the blast at Ordnance Factory at Bhandara, Maharashtra…The rescue teams are deployed at the site. All efforts are being made to provide assistance to those who are affected,” he added.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said there were reports that 13 to 14 workers were trapped after the roof collapsed in the explosion in the ordnance factory in Bhandara district.
“According to the preliminary information received so far, unfortunately, one worker has died. Five workers have been safely evacuated. The District Collector and the Superintendent of Police are at the spot and all kinds of help are being provided,” he added in an X post.
“SDRF and Nagpur Municipal Corporation teams have also been called for rescue operations and they will arrive soon. The district administration is involved in rescue operations in coordination with the defence forces. Teams have also been kept ready for medical assistance. I pay my heartfelt tributes to the one person who has lost his life in the incident,” the Chief Minister added.
