A three-year-old girl had fallen into a deep borewell while playing on December 23. She was rescued after days of operation by the authorities, however, hours later, she died.
A three-year-old girl, who fell into a 150-feet deep borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli 10 days ago, died hours after being rescued, officials said on Wednesday.
After over 160 hours of rescue operation that ended this evening, Chetna was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment, after which the authorities said that she was stable and was being monitored.
Chetna fell into a borewell while playing on her father’s agricultural farm in Badiyali Dhani, under the Sarund police station in Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district on December 23.
Initial rescue efforts, using a ring to pull her out, were unsuccessful. After two days of failed attempts, a piling machine was brought in on Wednesday morning, and a parallel pit was dug to aid in the rescue operation.
Rescue Operation
In arguably one of the longest rescue operations in the state, the authorities worked day in and day out for over 160 hours. The administration said that it was one of the toughest operations.
The teams dug a parallel tunnel where they found a rock-solid strata. Rain also posed a challenge.
NDRF team in-charge Yogesh Kumar Meena said earlier that the rock was hard and cutting it was the challenge for the rescuers.
Family Alleged Delay
The family members had previously blamed the administration for a delay in carrying out the operation. “It’s been days my daughter is stuck in the well. She is suffering from hunger and thirst,” the mother had earlier said.
Former minister Rajendra Singh Gudha also visited the spot and blamed the family for keeping the borewell open, leading to the incident, and also slammed the administration for delay in the rescue operation.
