12 Hours, 12 Naxalites: Inside Chhattisgarh Police And CRPF’s Bijapur Operation

12 Naxalites gunned down by security forces in Chhattisgarh
As many as 12 Naxalites were killed in an ongoing encounter operation with security forces at the south Bastar area in Chhattisgarh on Thursday.
Times Now sources revealed that a big operation by Chattisgarh police on Maoists in Bastar Range is still on at the Bijapur-Sukma-Telangana border. Reportedly several Maoists killed in the encounter. Police are yet to confirm. Police, CRPF and TG Grey Hounds are part of the operation.

How Were Naxalites Killed

The gunfight broke out at around 9 am in a forest of south Bijapur when a joint team of security personnel was out an anti-Naxalite operation and the intermittent exchange of fire lasted till late in the evening. Personnel belonging to the state police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) from three districts, five battalions of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action – an elite jungle warfare unit of the CRPF) and the 229th battalion of CRPF were involved in the operation.
“As per preliminary information, 12 Naxalites were killed in the gunfight. Further details were awaited as a search operation was still underway in the area,” a senior police official confirmed to PTI.
