10 Students Hospitalised After Suspected Gas Leak At Jaipur Coaching Centre

At least ten students were admitted to hospital after they became ill due to a gas leak on the premises of a private coaching institute in Jaipur on Sunday. Among those hospitalised, two students have been admitted in ICU.

As per the preliminary information, the incident took place at Utkarsh Coaching Classes located in city’s Mahesh Nagar area on Sunday.

The incident occurred at around 6:45pm when an unusual odour began emanating in the classroom during an ongoing session. According to the reports, a suspected gas leak from the drain caused a foul odour. As the odour intensified, over 20 students present in the class experienced difficulty in breathing and severe headache.

“Ten students of the institute fainted due to a suspected gas leak from the drain. Some smoke from the kitchen on the terrace of the building had also come in,” police said as reported by PTI.

A doctor of a private hospital said that seven children were brought to the facility after they complained of difficulty in breathing. The remaining were taken elsewhere, he said. As of now, their condition of the students is reported to be stable.
